edgar, thanks for the info about the Drifters. Love to learn here on WA2K radio.

Never heard Peggy Day by "the jester". He is such a versatile guy.

Hey, Brit, you get a good night's sleep and that one by Miles Davis is great jazz. Darn that Dream is a good one.

I'm saying goodnight a bit early, but that happens sometimes when the dark comes too soon.

Two songs for my evening.

First Andy Russell again, but first some info about the man.

Andy Russell (September 16, 1919 – April 16, 1992) was an American popular vocalist, specializing in traditional pop and Latin music.

He was born Andrés Rabago Pérez in the Boyle Heights area of East Los Angeles. He was one of ten children (eight boys, two girls) born to parents who were Mexican immigrants of Spanish descent. Already as a teenager he had begun to perform as a vocalist and drummer with a local band headed by Don Ramon Cruz. In the early forties he Anglicized his name (Andy was obvious, but "Russell" was after the singer Russ Columbo). He became vocalist and drummer with the bands of Johnny Richards, Gus Arnheim, Sonny Dunham, and Alvino Rey. By 1944, he had become well enough regarded a pop vocalist to be featured on radio, and in the next year had his Old Gold Show. He also signed on with Capitol Records

Now, Lost Without You.

and another one by a great jazz guitarist. Rockhead and our flower lady like him as well.

So nice to have Ontario, Dublind, and London with us today.

From Letty with love to the world.

edgar, thanks again for your comments. Yes, it's possible that we may lose our signal today.

Dream Weaver by Gary Wright was excellent as was Jerry Lee's City Lights.

euroGeorge, What a great song. The Frank and Walters Trust in the Future was excellent. Thanks for the introduction, Dublin.

A couple of watermelons and a couple of Herbies for today.

First, the cover of Herbie Mann.

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. I love that Jesuit Irish whistle. The Knotted Cord was excellent. Remember The Mission?

Here's another song from that wonderful book, movie.

Barry and euro, Love both of those songs. Didn't see the movie, Brit, but I think that language is Portuguese. Lovely theme.

Trust in the Future was great, and the visuals bring back many beautiful memories of The Emerald Isle.

Thanks to both London and Dublin for the comments.

I came across this by accident, but I love it. (thinking of the Portuguese man of War)

Nomad man, Welcome back. You sent me searching again.

Don Cornell (April 21, 1919 – February 23, 2004) was an American singer prominent mainly in the 1940s and 1950s noted for his smooth but robust baritone voice.

Born Luigi Varlaro in The Bronx, New York, Cornell got his start with trumpeter Red Nichols and bandleader Sammy Kaye before going solo. He sold over 50 million records.[citation needed] Among his hits were "It Isn't Fair," "I'm Yours," "I'll Walk Alone," and "Hold My Hand." His version of "Hold My Hand" sold over one million copies, and topped the UK Singles Chart in 1954. In 1993, he was inducted into the Big Band Hall of Fame. He was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity.

He was among the top headliners, appearing on the nightclub circuit during the 1950s, when there were numerous such venues across the nation. When headlining at the Beverly Hills Supper Club, Southgate, Kentucky – in metropolitan Cincinnati – he appeared many times on the popular Ruth Lyons noon television program. He also hosted the show during some of Ms. Lyons' periodic absences.

In 1979, Cornell moved to Florida. He died in Aventura, Florida, from emphysema and diabetes at the age of 84.

Loved Hold My Hand by him. I Want to Hold Your Hand, Sylvester. Razz The Fab Four did that one.

Hurry back, Brit, and Stevie was right. Love You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover.

My daughter and I were discussing Oscar Wilde and his fairy tales. Love that guy, so here is one that we searched out and found.

The Selfish Giant.

Good afternoon. The weather was not so wild as predicted. But it did rain all morning. Too many songs to comment on, even the tale of the Giant.
