Morning, Ms. Letty. A little note on Toots Hibbert of Toots & the Maytals. Among his many accomplishments, he is credited with inventing the word reggae, although he may have spelled it reggay, with this record:

Hey, Brit, I love "the boss's" We Take Care of Our Own. Don't know The Lightning Seeds, but that guy was fantastic. Reminds me of the lightning bugs that we used to catch when I was a kid in Virginia.

yitwail, I love, love, love reggae music. Thanks for that one by The Maytals.

Somehow, I was thinking of this lady who was born in Richmond, Virginia.

Shirley MacLean Beaty (born April 24, 1934), known professionally as Shirley MacLaine, is an American film and theater actress, singer, dancer, activist and author, well known for her beliefs in New Age spirituality and reincarnation. She has written a large number of autobiographical works, many dealing with her spiritual beliefs as well as her Hollywood career. She was nominated for an Academy Award five times before winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1983 for her role in Terms of Endearment. Her younger brother is Warren Beatty.

Here's a funny one by her and Jerry Lewis.

@edgarblythe,
I liked the movie Terms of Endearment, although it was funny and sad at the same time, edgar.

Great one by Rambling Jack Foley, especially the radio Joe part.

Today is Zero Mostel's birthday. Anyone remember Fiddler on the Roof?.

Love this one from the movie.

I have seen Fiddler on the Roof, letty. The only thing keeping me from seeing it a second time is the length of it. Takes lots of patience and a little prudence

@edgarblythe,
Always loved Cannonball's version, with a super band: Cannonball Adderley (alto saxophone); Charles Lloyd (tenor saxophone, flute); Nat Adderley (cornet); Joe Zawinul (piano); Sam Jones (bass); Louis Hayes (drums).

@Barry The Mod,
Ah, I missed it, Brit. My neighbor across the street went to the Cape and said that it had been commercialized which means the government no longer controls the rockets. In a way, that's good, because people are now getting jobs.

Why should we be surprised that you played that beautiful song about mother by Dusted. It was very heart warming. I always called my mother, Mamma.

Here's Paul Robeson to tell you how some folks feel when they're down

Goodnight, Brit and euro.

Irish, thanks for your comments, and my favorite of yours was The Whole World is Africa.

Going to say goodnight as well. First, dear Nat.

Now, a birthday guy that I don't know, so here's some info on Tommy Tune.

o.k. - one more before turning in .
it's not a military band - but a band to keep alive the tradition of the long gone austrian monarchy .

they are playing in front of the royal summer palace - castle schoenbrunn

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jg5ulSvBtRw&feature=related

Quote:
Schönbrunn Palace (German: Schloss Schönbrunn [ʃøːnˈbʁʊn]) is a former imperial 1,441-room Rococo summer residence in Vienna, Austria. One of the most important cultural monuments in the country, since the 1960s it has been one of the major tourist attractions in Vienna. The palace and gardens illustrate the tastes, interests, and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs

only 1,441 room - pity !

edgar, Love the crooners' Don't Fence Me in.

hbg, We wondered where you were and you've been hanging out with John Phillip Sousa. Didn't someone do a movie about him? Need to check that out.

Morning, Brit. That was funny. The Domino Effect always makes me smile. Never thought of it via mattresses, however.

Your Francoise Hardy song reminded me of this one.
