@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks for your comments. Just Out of Reach is one by Solomon Burke that I don't know. It was rather sad, but the melody rather reminded me of "...how can I ease your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold, heart.." Remember that one by Hank?

hey, Irish. I think that I saw most of the James Bond movies and read most of his books, but that is one I missed. Great song by Louis and partner. Thanks for the memory.

I played this one before on WA2K radio today, but I think it deserves another listen.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K folks.

My word, edgar. I had no idea that Bobby did Blue Skies. He was great, of course.

Lust for Life was on TCM and I thought of Van Gogh's last painting.

http://www.vangoghstudio.com/images/wheatfield_with_crows.jpg

Also though of Richard Wright's haiku.

"the crow flew so fast,
that he left his caw behind
in the fields."

Marty Robbins did You Belong to My Heart, but in searching I could only fine this one by Jerry Vale who I do not know. He is great, however.

I was surprised to find out that Elvis did that one as well.

@edgarblythe,
ah, edgar, thanks for your comment on Jerry. Loved Ray's One Mint Julep. Never heard him play organ. Great one.

Today is John Williams' birthday, and here is a great tribute to him.

@edgarblythe,
wow! I thought the cold weather here had interrupted our signal, edgar. Sorry, buddy, I had John born a day early.

Thanks again for your comment. I love Ray Charles' version of Birth of the Blues. I certainly know that one.

I think I'll get it right this time. Today is Garth Brooks' birthday. What a great voice.

Pet Shop Boys - To Step Aside.

By the cathedral into the sun
Pilgrims are singing, their journey done
I look at my short life and think
Of all the champagne that I drink
With all the faces that I know
And how much further can one go?

And if I decide to step aside
I will try to reply to the feelings I hide

I look from my window down to the square
At workers still queueing patiently there
For market forces to provide
What history's so far denied
For a different kind of fate
Than to labour long and always wait

And if I decide to step aside
I will try to return to the person inside

Will I always need you? Would you want me to?
Can you love me for good the way you thought you could?

Or will spring bring rain and summer burn?
Will tears at last precede the turn
From summer warmth to sudden cold
As certainly as growing old?

And if I decide to step aside
I will try to forget all the tears I'll have cried

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. I watched every one of those freezing sites. Unbelievable. I used to love the snow and ice when I was a wee thing. I got a sled for Christmas and it didn't snow so I tried it on the frost. Didn't work.

The Pet Boys doing Step Aside was great Thanks for sharing the lyrics and your comment about John.

Here's a February song by Josh . Many folks mispronounce that month.

@Letty,
We have Garth's albums and listen to them quite a bit.
I had thought about playing Sam's Cupid, but had not heard Connie's song in a long time.
Barabra's Funny Valentine is as always a great one by her.
