For years I just liked one or two Van Morrison songs. Lately I recognized that he sings better than I conceded and has some more great songs.

Thanks to all of you for the music, and the comments.

euro, that instrumental combined with the visuals was truly calming. Thanks for Marooned by Pink Floyd.

The entire reason for starting WA2K radio was to have ethnicity.

How about this one, too.

@eurocelticyankee,
Fabulous, euro. Love that combination of ethnicity.

Here is an artistic fellow.

André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu (born 1 October 1949) is a Dutch violinist, conductor, and composer best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra.

@edgarblythe,
Funny, edgar. I don't think they know either.

Loved Jerry's I Stand Accused, and thanks for your comments.

One must be good to stay in tune with a flute, so see what you think.

@edgarblythe,
Great one by Charlie Rich, edgar. When I was a kid, I drew a picture and called it "little boy eating watermelon on a hot summer day". I also recall a jazz version of The Three Bears and one said, "Who's that bear been sittin' in my chair? It used to be mohair, and now it ain't nowhere." Just found out that mohair is the wool from an angora goat. Funny.

So, another mohair song.

@edgarblythe,
before we close for today , here is a tribute to the
british composer Ivor Novello :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjyxQ9dLu8s

Quote:
David Ivor Davies (15 January 1893 – 6 March 1951), better known as Ivor Novello, was a Welsh composer, singer and actor who became one of the most popular British entertainers of the first half of the 20th century. Born into a musical family, his first successes were as a songwriter. His first big hit was "Keep the Home Fires Burning", which was enormously popular during the First World War. After the war, Novello contributed numbers to several successful musical comedies and was eventually commissioned to write the scores of complete shows. In the 1920s, he turned to acting, first in films and then on stage, with considerable success in both.

edgar, I had no idea that Dolly did Go Tell it on the mountain. Thanks again for your comments.

hbg, I appreciate your info on Ivor Novello, Don't know him, but I know Keep the Home Fires Burning. What a great version.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with the man after whom Martin Luther King, Jr. was named. Martin Luther never wanted to leave the Roman Catholic church, he just want to reform it. We could use some reform today as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBVYzrCpYdA&feature=related

A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he amid the flood
of mortal ills prevaling.
For still our ancient foe
doth seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

2. Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth, his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.

3. And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The Prince of Darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo, his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

4. That word above all earthly powers,
no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours,
thru him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill;
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever.

I love having ethnic variety on WA2K radio.

Good night world,
From Letty with love

@Letty,
letty ,
our british members are probably familiar with ivor novello .
he was extremely popular in britain starting during WW I .
there is even a society honouring him .

http://www.ivornovello.com/index.htm

just like musicals were popular in the U.S.A. - and operettas in continental europe - so was ivor novello's musc in britain .
i only started to learn about him after coming to canada .

letty , perhaps you are familiar with this tune by ivor novello :

@Letty,
letty ,
thanks for your tribute to the two martin luther's .
i'll give you the link to the wiki entry .
i think you may find the info quite interesting .
we would have liked to visit the wartburg where luther was in residence for some time . since it was situated until 1989 in the eastern part of germany , we never went to see it .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wartburg

( if you go to " external links " at the bottom of the page you will find an interesting picture gallery of the castle , and even two webcameras - it's rather dark over there right now )

( during the last 1/2 hour i've toured the wartburg and read some of the articles . thanks for drawing my attention to it - i've learned a lot !!! )
