I would not have guessed there was a musical note in Angela's body. Razz
I like the music presented this afternoon, but don't wish to make individual comments just now. I only listen to Buble because he does so many familiar standards that I like.

Hey, Brit. edgar remembers her role in Sweeny Todd I bet.

edgar, there have been so many songs played on WA2K today, it's almost impossible to acknowledge all of them.

Loved Jerry Butler's Little Red Shoes, Texas.

Bet you'll be surprised at this one by Angela.

Hey, Brit. Loved Alfredo and Quincy Jones. I can see why you might be a bit timid about starting to practice that one.

Ah, how I love Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence. I think I may have seen that movie. I thought that David Bowie had done it, but Sakamoto was excellent.

edgar, yep, she was perky. Angela is still with us.

Lansbury has won five Tony Awards, six Golden Globes, and has been nominated for numerous other industry awards, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress on three occasions, and nineteen Emmy Awards.

Edgar, Loved that version of Chesnuts Roasting on an Open Fire. Don't know Ben E. King, but that was wonderful.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a bit of drums.

@Letty,
speaking of ireland ... here are the irish rovers with a christmas song
from edmonton , alberta !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFw87Ku_qWg

Quote:
The Irish Rovers is a Canadian Irish folk group created in 1963 and named after the traditional song "The Irish Rover". The group is best known for their international television series, and renditions of traditional Irish drinking songs, as well as early hits, Shel Silverstein's "The Unicorn", "Wasn't That A Party", "The Orange and the Green", "Whiskey on a Sunday", "Lily The Pink", and "The Black Velvet Band" which became a popular pub tune.

The primary voices heard in the group's early songs were Will Millar (tenor), Jimmy Ferguson (baritone), George Millar and Joe Millar, and in the last twenty years, also John Reynolds and Ian Millar.

All of the band members are from either the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Founding member George Millar and his cousin Ian are both from Ballymena, long-time group member Wilcil McDowell is from Larne, Sean O'Driscoll from Cork, with John Reynolds and percussionist Fred Graham both from Belfast rounding out the lineup.[1]

The Irish Rovers have represented Canada in five World Expos, and throughout the years, have performed in venues ranging from small Irish pubs to Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden. In 2010, the band celebrated their 45 years by producing a CD and a DVD/television special filmed entirely in Northern Ireland.

can't let the rovers go without playing " The Unicorn " :

Mary Chapin-Carpenter - Christmas Time in the City.

Well I walked to town in the pouring rain
Paid my fare and I rode that train
To the station under the avenue
Hit the air at the stroke of noon
At the cross streets where I staked my claim
I played in tune with the winter rain
Collecting dimes and dollar bills
While the noisy traffic played the fills

And it's Christmas time in the city
When the air is filled with cheer
And the storefronts look this pretty only once a year

Well the vendors huddled and the taxis honked
As I played for change beneath the neon clock
Was dressed up looking like a Christmas tree
Blinking down on that busy street
When the crowd thinned out and the rain had quit
And my fingers felt cold and stiff
I took their money and I closed my case
And I headed back towards home again

And it's Christmas time in the city
When the air is filled with cheer
And the storefronts look this pretty only once a year

As I walked back to the subway stairs
I had twenty eight dollars in change for fare
There was an old bag lady with an outstretched hand
And a small Salvation Army band
Playing Angels We Have Heard on High
The First Noel and O Holy Night
I folded up one dollar bill
And I tucked it down into the till

And it's Christmas time in the city
When the air is filled with cheer
And the storefronts look this pretty only once a year

And it's Christmas time in the city
When the air is filled with cheer
And the storefronts look this pretty only once a year

And it's Christmas time in the city....

Good afternoon. Polka Dots and Moonbeams is one of my favorite songs, letty. The medley had some good stuff. Good one by barry also.
Here is a song that was written by Don Kirshner and Bobby Darin, sung by Little Lambsie Penn

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. That song by Mary Chapin-Carpenter was rather sad, reminding us that it won't be a giving/getting Christmas for many of the poor. Great one, however.

Anyone remember Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol?

Just a reminder.

Another, oops. Missed our famous Texan and his comments and song.

Back later to acknowledge, edgar.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, Elvis and Bobby. Great tribute to them both. Don't much care for the lady singing, but I did hear Hound Dog in there somewhere. Thanks for that cover of Bobby Darin. Once again, we all appreciate your comments here.
