good night from ontario !

georg friedrich haendle's " firework music " ( rather a mellow
tune - and not a firework ) :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EATCCXJ6riw&feature=related

Quote:
George Frideric Handel (German: Georg Friedrich Händel; pronounced [ˈhɛndəl]) (23 February 1685 – 14 April 1759) was a German-British Baroque composer, famous for his operas, oratorios, anthems and organ concertos. Handel was born in 1685, in a family indifferent to music. He received critical musical training in Halle, Hamburg Wink and Italy before settling in London (1712) and becoming a naturalised British subject in 1727.[1] By then he was strongly influenced by the great composers of the Italian Baroque and the middle-German polyphonic choral tradition.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Ronnie, edgar. I know him best for Smokey Mountain Rain. Thanks for the introduction, Texas, and once again, we appreciate your comment on Chuck.

What a Difference you Made in My Life, reminds me of this song. First, a little info.

Jamie Cullum (born 20 August 1979) is an English pop and jazz-pop singer-songwriter. Though he is primarily a vocalist/pianist he also accompanies himself on other instruments including guitar and drums. Since April 2010, he has been presenting a weekly jazz show on BBC Radio 2, broadcast on Tuesdays.

Now, What a Difference a Day Makes.

Jimmy Giuffre trio- The Train and the River

a strange backwater of jazz. Seems to chime with Frank Lloyd Wright, Aaron Copland, Ansel Adams.

What a Difference a Day Made is one of my favorite songs.
McTagg's music is good. I thought of Dave Brubeck, listening to it.

McTag, Welcome back. You sent me searching again.

James Peter Giuffre (April 26, 1921 – April 24, 2008) was an American jazz clarinet and saxophone player, composer and arranger. He is notable for his development of forms of jazz which allowed for free interplay between the musicians, anticipating forms of free improvisation.

Loved that song, buddy. So different, and I can see your comparisons with that trio.

edgar, Thanks again for your comment and The Platters, He's Mine was a goodie, Texas.

Somehow, Taggers song reminded me of this one.

@edgarblythe,
Yep, I feel a bit like moanin' myself, edgar.

Harry's Shenandoah is great, and I know that one. Love songs that encompass the American Indian.

Another river, and this time, I was surprised to see that "old blue eyes" has done it. Know it best by Paul Robeson, however.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment on Old Man River by the chairman of the board, edgar.

Wow! La Senal en Rio Grande was fabulous. Now I'm left to wonder if it's Portuguese, Spanish, or Hispanic.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I watched an oldie on TCM the other night that was about Eric in Phantom of the Opera. It was a silent film with sub titles, but it was really good. It seems that there really was an Eric.

Here is another surprise; Andrea does The Music of the Night.

here is a superb british brass band that i have been listening to for decades on BBC radio - i really enjoy seeing them now on youtube :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0pfVpcamKQ&feature=related

Quote:
It was formerly the band of the Black Dyke Mills in Queensbury, West Yorkshire, England, a company owned by John Foster. Foster, a French horn player, joined with others in a small brass and reed band in Queensbury in 1816.[2] This band faltered, and another band formed - called the Queenshead Band - which consisted of 18 musicians around 1843. This second band also faltered, but in 1855, Foster and other musicians established the new mill band, and outfitted it with uniforms made from the mill's own cloth. Most of the musicians in the band also worked at the mill, and a close bond was fostered with the local community. The band has remained active since that time, and still rehearses in its original rooms.

Black Dyke was the first band to achieve the "Grand Slam" in 1985 by winning the Yorkshire regional, European, British Open and National Championship contests.[3] They were also voted BBC Band of the Year.[4]

Good morning from here in Florida, and it's cold.

JCBoy, as edgar observed, Pavarotti was marvelous. What a wonderful memory to own.

edgar, Your goodnight song by The Fab Four was one that I didn't know. I'm Happy Just to Dance with you gave me a smile.

hbg, that was a fantastic Yorkshire band song. Thanks for the introduction, Ontario. Odd, as my daughter has a Yorkshire combination Maltese dog named Jac that she rescued from an animal shelter.

Two songs for the early morning. First, one that I played on Izzie's Yabber boat.

Steve Martin is amazing. Remember him in A Simple Twist of Fate.

Now, one that I discovered, and here is some info on the group.

Hari Mata Hari is a popular music band from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hari Mata Hari is the stage name for the singer Hajrudin "Hari" Varešanović. The group originated from the city of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The group has performed over 1,000 concerts and sold 5,000,000 albums to date. Their songs are among the most famous and popular love ballads in the former Yugoslav era. Hari Mata Hari was the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 held in Athens, Greece.
