NOSTALGIA !
.......................
this is from an old 78 - i remember winding up the old grammophone to play this and other songs in the late 30's when my parents would have friends over for an evening of dancing !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG6CiBlgUM8&feature=related

Quote:
Kálmán and Franz Lehár were the leading composers of what has been called the "Silver Age" of Viennese operetta during the first quarter of the 20th century. He became well-known for his fusion of Viennese waltz with Hungarian csárdás. Even so, polyphonically and melodically, Kálmán was a devoted follower of Giacomo Puccini, while in his orchestration methods he employed principles characteristic of Tchaikovsky's music.

good night !

A good day to Letty, Ed, & all the WA2K listeners!
Let's loosen up, folks; I'll put on a Ramsey Lewis Trio number onto the turntable now, for some atmosphere, and dedicate it to all the A2K regulars. Take it away, Ed.

Good morning here, folks. Hope it's gonna be a good day.

hbg, Loved all I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth by Spike was great, as was Shimmy and The Sheik of Araby. (Rudolph Valentino, of course)

Edgar, Great goodnight song by Kay Kyser, and love the morning song as well. Blue Birds Over the Mountain was up lifting. Thanks again for your comments.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back. I was a bit concerned about you.

Weather Report and Teen Town were good ones, London.

Welcome back to neco nomad as well. Love the Ramsey Lewis Trio, buddy. Thanks.

Here's a new group to me, yawl. First a small bit of info.

The Boomtown Rats were an Irish punk rock band that had a series of Irish and UK hits between 1977 and 1985. They were led by vocalist Bob Geldof.

Now, the Rats play while neco's cat is away. Razz

Very sad commentary on why this song was written.

@Letty,
Hiya doing Miss Letty.
A big hello to you, Ed and all the regulars.

Emily Barker and The Red Clay Halo - Pause
Who am I now without your love?
Who am I alone in a day that has gone?
Without your love to return upon,
I'm a featherless bird in a sky so absurd
Why oh why's there so much movement
When all I long for is to lay down in love's pause
And dream I know something of truth
Oh hide me deeper in your peace further
And lose me in this greed I've found in your need

@edgarblythe,
I don't know that one, Texas. Sailor Stop Your Wandering by Seaman was great.

Sorry about saying "son" instead of "sun". Need another chat with our editor, I guess.

Here's another Wanderer

Ah, everyone has wandered off and left me to say goodnight by myself.

Love this song, and it's a good one with which to say goodnight.

From Letty with "..oh my love..."

So great to have Dublin, London, Germany via Ontario and, of course, us Americans.
