Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, writing a short story is difficult. I still think Beware of the Dog was quite powerful. Love that Judy Collins song. Don't know it, but thanks for the memory.

hbg, William Tell, Boris and Natasha, and Fritz were perfect for the day.

Hey, Brit. Love The Pound Sign. Funny! Also Passion Flower was awesome on that guitar. Friends Will Be Friends says so much.

McTag, I hope you and the Hintelers have a wonderful time. Love that version of "I Don't Have a Wooden Heart."

Two songs for the morning here:

First Elvis version of the "..heart song.."

Sorry about the poor lip sync.

Now, a birthday man.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Still quite dark here.

Good morning, folks.
What is doubly difficult, writing a short story, is getting held to a word maximum. The one is question was 600. My lyric writing experience helps me focus on word economy, I think.
I am a fan of Elvis' song about the wooden heart. I am out of time just now. Will be back later today.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, how can they make rules about creativity? You'll do fine. Use the short story Beware of the Dog as a model.

It's Thursday, (Thor's Day) so let's listen to Queen.

@Letty,
I don't use others' stories for models, generally speaking. I did a takeoff, sort of, of A Christmas Carol, but that was a one time thing. For a short story, I generally take a notion and follow it without a thought of what another person might do instead. At the end, I read it over a number of times, to see if I still like it. The one for the contest, I had it completed and ready to go to the contest, when a thought came to me to change the final two sentences. So I had to delete the upload on Lulu and start all over again. But it was worth it, to me.
They keep all entries in the system, win or not, and make them available for sale to the public, by the way.

It's always a pleasure to see what barry and hbg are up to on the radio. Also like Gordon Lightfoot.

What I like about Queen, they don't sound the same on every song.

edgar, I simply meant to use Beware of the Dog as an example of concise and attention getting ploys. The denouement and the resolution are perfect.

Love that one by "the jester". I think you may have played that one before, Texas. Thanks again for your comments.

Hey, Brit. That one by David (the goblin king} is one of his very best. Thanks for the memory.

Today is Danny DeVito's birthday. He is one funny guy.

@Letty,
If you are referring to the Roald Dahl short story, I have read many of his stories and occasionally feel jealous that he thought of something instead of me. He was one of the greats, in my book.

I have been following Danny with interest, ever since he first appeared in Taxi. Talented man. I like his wife just as much as him.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar, and "The Fab Four's" Paperback Writer was great.

Today is Rock Hudson's birthday, and regardless of the man's unhappy life, he deserves a tribute.

I enjoyed Rock Hudson in a number of movies. He never was a big favorite of mine, but I give him credit for playing some good roles.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't know Bobby did All By Myself, edgar. Well, he didn't get much of a chance to grow older, unfortunately.

I recall Rock in Giant. Wonder how many of those stars survived. I need to check that out.

Here's the very talented Kevin doing Bobby.

I agree that Kevin Spacey is a fine actor. I have to say, being honest - and I don't fault the actor for it - I did not see Bobby Darin at all in the bio film Kevin made. He did a fine job of singing and he was personable. But, I have been following Bobby all my life. I had to conclude he was absent from his own life story.

@Barry The Mod,
Wow! That man IS amazing. Love his philosophy on "becoming the part that you play", Brit. Thanks for that commercial that makes sense and the plug for AA.

Agreed with you, edgar.

Here are his most popular movies.

@edgarblythe,
You sent me searching again, Texas.

Samuel "Sam" Tsui (born May 2, 1989, is an American musician and Internet celebrity who rose to fame on YouTube. He is best known for covering and performing songs by popular artists, as well as original medleys and mashups. Tsui graduated from Yale University in 2011.

I'm assuming he is talking about Mick.

Be sure and check out Kevin's top movies, edgar.

Just like Kevin, here is Mick and his good ones.
