David Gilmour - The Blue.

Shameless Sea
Aimlessly so blue
Midnight moon shines for you

Still marooned
Silence drifting through
Nowhere to choose
Just blue

Ceaselessly
Star-crossed you and me
Save our souls
We'll be forever blue

Waves roll
Lift us in blue
Drift us
Seep right through
Color us blue

Wait for me
Shameless you the Sea
Soon the blue
So soon
Soon the Blue
So soon....

That John Donne video makes me recall that when they examined my oldest brother, after he was dead, they found in his pocket a scrap of paper. He had scrawled on it, "Ask not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

A Neil Young song in a minute.

That's a sad story about your brother, edgar. Great version of All Along the Watch Tower, by Neil.

Time for me to say goodnight and I am going to do so with two songs.

First, a tribute to a fine vocalist whose birthday is today ; then the classical piece from which it was taken.

First, Jo.

Now, Chopin.

Wonder if we could coax euroGeorge back on WA2K by telling him that I had welsh RABBIT tonight. Razz

No nice to see Barry the Brit with us today.

From Letty with love to the world.

@Rockhead,

Morning radio peeps.

Lovin' Charlie Parker for a Saturday night, and played Sonny Stitt too. I saw Sonny Stitt play once in a local venue here. He was good, but he didn't like the drummer he was given.

Here's a song for a Sunday morning.

These things play so much better, and sound so much better, on my new computer. (Maybe I'll go through the Radio A2K back catalogue!)

Good morning, WA2K radio folks.

edgar, thanks again for your comments, and Harry's Jack Ass song was hilarious. Loved it!

Rock, your goodnight song, Constellation by the Bird man was a great one as well. Thanks, buddy as I have been to Bird Land.

McTag, Welcome back. Amazing that you joined in with your instrument and played Handel's Messiah. Fantastic, and more synchronicity. Today is Robert Louis Stevenson's birthday.

I was amazed that he had been to Samoa.

First, a post card.

Now, a lovely song based on RLS's life.

A morning moon winked back at me,
From behind my waving frond palm tree.

Good morning. It's a beautiful day. I like RL Stevenson very much. I have always been amazed at the variety of subject matter in his writing. Will be back later.

@edgarblythe,
Didn't know that one from Hair, edgar; however, Three Five Zero Zero made some good points.

Yep, RLS, was full of variety and variety is the spice of life.

Abstract nouns should always be defined. For example, I have always looked at A2K as a global village.

I agree with Marshall.

Marshall McLuhan's insights made the concept of a global village, interconnected by an electronic nervous system, part of our popular culture well before it actually happened.

Another definition.

I know from a historical record that Western people first described a Japanese skin as pale skin while Japanese people described Western skin as reddish brown skin. But a Japanese translator mistranslated the word of 'pale' as 'yellow', then Japanese people started to categorized their skin as yellow by themselves.

Spice Girls.

Then there is the song from The Highlander, who wants to live forever.

The movie version of Hair is not that faithful to the stage production, not even in the music.

I have seen only a few persons I would describe as yellow in skin color. Not all of them have been Asians.

I like the Spice Girls. Did not truly understand the song, but it sounds good.

@edgarblythe,
I really like Odetta via Harry at Carnegie Hall, edgar. What did she mean by "...it's not my time..."? Viva means life in some languages. I think we know what she means, however. Thanks for your philosophy of color, Texas.

I think that Spice girls song simply is another way of saying. "..which came first; the chicken or the egg.." No answer at all.

Here's the updated version of Hair.

Well, I've been drivin' on Bald Mountain,
Well, I've been drivin' on Bald Mountain,
And I've been drivin' on Bald Mountain,
You know it's not my time, buddy, not my time.

Looka here, buddy, where'd ja get your learnin',
Looka here, buddy, where'd ja get your learnin',
Looka here, buddy, where'd ja get your learnin',
When you come here, buddy, when you come here?

Well, I got my learnin' on the Big Bend Tunnel,
I got my learnin' on the Big Bend Tunnel,
Got my learnin' on the Big Bend Tunnel,
You know it's not my time, buddy, not my time.

Well, every little thing that you see shinin',
Every little thing that you see shinin',
Every little thing that you see shinin',
Well, that ain't no gold, buddy, ain't no gold.

Well, I've been drivin' since Johnny was a baby,
Well, I've been drivin' since Johnny was a baby,
Well, I've been drivin' since Johnny was a baby,
You know it's not my time, buddy, not my time.

Well, I've been drivin' on Bald Mountain,
Well, I've been drivin' on Bald Mountain,
Well, I've been drivin' on Bald Mountain,
You know it's not my time, buddy, not my time.

It may mean not time to die. Other versions of the song say, "I've done my time."

The record album of The Original Cast Recording of Hair has been played in my house so often, it is hard to appreciate other versions. But the new cast does it very well.

@edgarblythe,
Fantastic song by Miki Imai, edgar. She's right. "...goodbye yesterday; hello tomorrow.." Love the discussions that we have on WA2K radio. Thanks for your explanation about Odetta's song. I think what we like via music is what we connect to at the time.

Miki:

Sonny Rollins.

and the lyrics.

Poor butterfly
'Neath the blossoms waiting.
Poor Butterfly
For she loved him so.

The moments pass into hours.
The hours pass into years.
And as she smiles through her tears,
She murmurs low:

The moon and I know that he'll be faithful
I'm sure he'll come to me by and by.
But if he won't come back then I'll never sigh or cry,
I just must die.
Poor butterfly.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I don't recall Bim Bom Bay by Jimmie, edgar, and that interview was remarkable. I had also forgotten that he was severely beaten by an LAPD cop. Thanks again for your comment.

Strange about that disease that he developed. I need to check that out. May explain some things. How about another one by Jimmie.

Jimmy always called himself a folksinger and his air play came primarily from rock and pop radio. Streets of Laredo is one of my favorite songs.
