Good morning, WA2K folks.

Oh, my goodness, I missed hbg's kissing song and all the fireworks. Fantastic, and now I recall that he is from Ontario. also liked that wonderful "bat" song. Yes, buddy, I prefer Die Fledermaus, too.

edgar loved your laughing song by "Bert", and the morning song by Prudence Farrow as done by the Beatles was perfect for today.

I think that all of us will know this birthday boy.

Happy Birthday, Leonard, and Tower of Song is much better than the tower of Babel. Razz

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Leonard never fails to open up new doors, edgar. Closing Time revealed many things about the man's life, love, and humor. Love that one! just spent some time reviewing those lyrics, Texas.

Today is Bill Murray's birthday, and he has been in many different movies. He deserves a tribute.

"...there are two kinds of people in this world; those who like Neil Diamond and those who don't..."

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Fantastic song by "the jester". Thanks again for your comment, edgar.

You sent me searching, buddy.

"Desolation Row" is a 1965 song written and sung by Bob Dylan. It was recorded on August 4, 1965, and was released as the closing track of Dylan's sixth studio album, Highway 61 Revisited. During its length of 11 minutes, Dylan weaves together a number of characters lifted from history, fiction and the Bible, into a narrative which suggests entropy and urban chaos. The song has been covered by many artists, including My Chemical Romance for the film Watchmen in 2009.

Scary. Chaos my be upon us right now. Dylan is spot on. school kids need to know what's ahead.

Well, Here's a bit of news about the band R.E.M.

R.E.M. announced today that they have broken up after 31 years together. "As lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band," the band said in a statement on their official website. "We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished.

Interesting song by them.

well, folks, wm sent me searching again.

Sir Cliff Richard, OBE (born Harry Rodger Webb; 14 October 1940) is a British pop singer, musician, performer, actor, entrepreneur and philanthropist, who has sold over an estimated 250 million records worldwide. With his backing group The Shadows, Richard, originally positioned as a rebellious rock and roll singer in the style of Little Richard and Elvis Presley, dominated the British popular music scene in the pre-Beatles period of the late 1950s and early 1960s. His 1958 hit single "Move It" is often described as Britain's first authentic rock and roll song, and John Lennon once claimed that "before Cliff and the Shadows, there had been nothing worth listening to in British music" A conversion to Christianity and subsequent softening of his music later led to a more middle of the road pop image, sometimes venturing into gospel.

We Don't Talk Anymore was great if a mite sad.

edgar, thanks again for your comments, and Angel on My Shoulder I know. Shelby Flint has a great voice. Thanks, to our two Texans.

Going to say goodnight a bit early as it's been a hard day's night.

I'll let Johnny cheer us up.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, thanks for your comment about Johnny, and yours by Tom T. was great. Don't know Second Hand Flowers, however. Marty Robbins' Hanging Tree was fantastic.

Goodnight, hbg. Those exchanges about Leonard were great, and I know Moonlight Bay as well.

Hurry back, edgar. Yep, The last rose of summer signals the beginning of fall.

A couple of birthday folks for the day.

First, an Italian that I love.

Good morning, everyone! Smile

Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood -- "Some Velvet Morning" (1967)

The text I've copied and pasted below is taken from the Wikipedia article about the song.

Quote:
"Some Velvet Morning" is a psychedelic pop song written by Lee Hazlewood and originally recorded by Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra in late 1967. It first appeared on Sinatra's album Movin' with Nancy, the soundtrack to her 1967 television special of the same name. The song has been covered many times since, almost always as a duet. Although "Some Velvet Morning" is one of the more famous duets Hazlewood and Sinatra recorded together, it is considered a departure from their usual fare, as it is decidedly less influenced by country & western music. The single peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1968.

As with many psychedelic songs, its overall meaning is somewhat obscure. The lyrics consist of the male part describing a mysterious, powerful woman named Phaedra, who educated the speaker in the ways of love. The male part alternates with the female part, who identifies herself as Phaedra and speaks over ethereal, twinkling music about beautiful nature imagery and about the secrets held by an unknown collective "us".

The song was featured in the 1967 TV special "Movin' With Nancy", starring Nancy Sinatra, released to home video in 2000.
