@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for your comments and your "Welcome Back". Don't know that one by Phil, but it's great and I read the allusion to it.

Today is Richard Wright's birthday, so here is a tribute to the man who did haiku and Native Son.

@Letty,
Not meaning to be a troublemaker, letty. There were two Richard Wrights. The one in your tribute, from Pink Floyd, and then the author of Native Son.

@Barry The Mod,
Well, Brit, you know the entertainment business. They like to costume their performers in whatever catches the eye.

Had no idea that Keely Smith did World Without Love.

It is my understanding that she was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was part Cherokee, so here's one inspired by Keely.

There's another jazz version of that tribe done with a flute

@edgarblythe,
Love That Old Black Magic by Louis and Keely, edgar.

Here's the jazz flute version with lyrics to follow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw3XHo2fBao

My sweet Indian maiden,
Since first I met you,
I can't forget you,
Cherokee sweetheart.

Child of the prairie
Your love keeps calling
My heart enthralling my
Cherokee

Dreams of summertime,
Of lovertime gone by,
Thru my memory
So tenderly, and sigh.

My sweet Indian maiden,
One day I'll hold you
In my arms enfold you, my
Cherokee
