I didn't like Scent of a Woman enough to watch it all.
That Ringo song is my favorite by him.

Hey, wandel, Welcome back. I like Al Pacino in The Devil's Advocate and it's the only one in which I enjoyed Keanu Reeves.

edgar, Love hitching a Ride. Did that only once and it was in daytime with a football player, so I wasn't concerned.

Here's a new face on the horizon, yawl. First a little info.

Cree Summer Francks (born July 7, 1969), best known as Cree Summer, is a Canadian Aboriginal & German-Canadian actress, musician and voice actress. She is perhaps best known for her role as college student Winifred "Freddie" Brooks on the NBC sitcom A Different World. As a voice actress Summer is best known for voicing Penny in Inspector Gadget during Season 1, Elmyra Duff in Tiny Toon Adventures, Susie Carmichael on Rugrats and All Grown Up, Princess Kida in Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Valerie Gray in Danny Phantom, Foxxy Love in Drawn Together, Numbuh 5 and Cree Lincoln in Codename: Kids Next Door, and Cleo the Poodle in Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Talk about ethnicity.

Let's listen to the birthday girl.

I heard Cree do Penny. That's about it. Her song is pretty good, however.

Funny, wandel. I wish.

edgar, Lost in Love by Chris was great. Never heard that one before. Odd, it says the artist was Garth Brooks. especially enjoyed the guitar.

I was thinking of how the beach here protected the Loggerhead Sea Turtle. Took a photo once of that turtle laying eggs.

The tiny babies followed the light, so the campground was in the dark when they hatched.

Never think of this one, that I don't think of the yitwails.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, Wake Up Little Susie was a great one. If I'm not mistaken, it was looked upon as something that it shouldn't be. Razz

Today is Robert Heinlein's birthday. I recall him best for Stranger in a Strange Land. Charles Manson had some mention or allusion there methinks.

Stranger in a Strange Land tells the story of Valentine Michael Smith, orphaned progeny of the first manned expedition to Mars, who has been raised by Martians and brought back to Earth by a second human expedition. Though he is a man in his twenties, Smith looks at absolutely everything on this new planet through the ignorant eyes of a baby, and faces the job of learning how to be a human being. If the world government of Earth will let him, that is, for Smith, through a legal fluke, not only has sole survivor rights to the space drive that his mother invented, but also to the surface of Mars. In a Byzantine maneuver that makes Watergate seem minor, the government holds Smith hostage while it tries to figure out how to seize his assets. Ben Caxton, a muckraking reporter, suspects the worst and attempts to rescue Smith. The problem is, if you can't fight City Hall, how can you even begin to fight a world government?

Leon sings about it.

Heinlein's book disappointed me mightily. The first part of the story set up anticipation of an encounter with an alien intelligence. I was thrilled as I gathered as much and then read on, but, then, the man became a stereotypical religious figure. Oh well, it gave us Grok - a great word. Leon Russell's song is a good one.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, Tex Ritter and Just Beyond the Moon. Don't know that one, but it's good. Elvis' Treat Me Nice was a great one as well. You right about Grok, however.

Going to say goodnight a mite early, but I am going to do so with Gentleman Jim.

So nice to have London with us today, and Wandel is always a treat.

Hope our nomad quits wandering and our Irishman returns.

From Letty with love to the world.

@Letty,
I've got a shelf full of Heinlein. I'll have to pull that one out for a re-read.

Now, about the Donkey Song. . . .

I recall reading some Heinlein books that I did enjoy, many moons ago. One, about a boy stranded on Mars. I don't remember much, since I think it was in the Fifties.

Good early morning, WA2K folks.

Roger, Welcome back. Ah, yes, Allan Jones' Donkey Serenade.

edgar, loved your goodnight song by Bobby and The Stanley Brothers Old Gray Mule along with June and Gordon's old gray were both great.

Hey, nomad man. Blues Stay Away by Ace Cannon was fantastic. Glad you're back, buddy.

I am amazed at how many folks have done this one by Allan, but his voice is truly wonderful.

Morning Ms Letty ( up early again!),Ed and all WA2K folks.Starting at the Science Desk.Here's a lady,all dressed up but nowhere to go....
http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af138/barrythemod/To%20Forward/126821-space-shuttle-atlantis-is-pi.jpg

And here's why....
http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af138/barrythemod/To%20Forward/126611-sts-135-launch-pad-lightning.jpg

Data review showed the two strikes occurred at 12:31 p.m. and 12:40 p.m. EDT. The first struck the water tower 515 feet (157 meters) from the pad and the second struck the beach area northeast of the pad.

So far, the data review indicates no issues with any systems, including shuttle Atlantis, External Tank, Solid Rocket Boosters, Space Shuttle Main Engines or Ground Support Equipment.

Meanwhile, the Atlantis crew is expected to face heavy workload as only four astronauts are assigned to the last mission of NASA whereas it's usually a six or seven-person crew.

The crew has been reduced from seven to four people as with no other shuttle on standby to perform a rescue mission in case of an accident, security risks are increased.

If they get stranded on the International Space Station they will have no choice but to be ferried home in turns aboard the Russian Soyuz craft, a process that could take several months.

The four-member crew consists of: Commander Christopher Ferguson, Pilot Douglas Hurley and Mission Specialists Sandra Magnus and Rex Walheim.

Fingers crossed that the weather will clear for the 11:26 EDT lift off.

Meanwhile here's Kathryn and Grover....

@Barry The Mod,
Hey, Brit. Loved Black Coffee by K.D. and Grover. I realized that Atlantis may not lift off as scheduled. Well, it's best to be cautious, I guess.

Here's a new face on the horizon. first, some info on the birthday boy.

Beck Hansen (born Bek David Campbell; July 8, 1970) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known by the stage name Beck. With a pop art collage of musical styles, oblique and ironic lyrics, and postmodern arrangements incorporating samples, drum machines, live instrumentation and sound effects, Beck has been hailed by critics throughout his musical career as being amongst the most creative and idiosyncratic musicians of 1990s and 2000s alternative rock.
