Mark Knopfler - Remembrance Day.

On your maypole green
See the winding Morris Men
Angry Alfie, Bill and Ken
Waving hankies, sticks and books
All the earthen roofs

Standing at the crease
The batsman takes a look around
The boys are fielding on home ground
The steeple sharp against the blue
When I think of you

Sam and Andy
Jack and John
Charlie, Martin
Jamie, Ron
Harry, Stephen
Will and Don
Matthew, Michael

On and on

We will remember them
Remember them
Remember them

We will remember them
Remember them
Remember them

Time has slipped away
The Summer sky to Autumn yields
A haze of smoke across the fields
Let's sup and fight another round
And walk the stubbled ground

When November brings
The poppies on Remembrance Day
When the vicar comes to say
May God rest them ,every one
Lest we forget our sons

We will remember them
Remember them
Remember them

We will remember them
Remember them
Remember them

We will remember them
Remember them
Remember them

We will remember them
Remember them
Remember them

Good morning, peeples. When I type that, I am always recalling an Abuzz member who called himself Reddy Peeples. Another bright and dry day ahead. Not looking forward.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

Excellent music by London, Dublin, and Texas. Wish I could acknowledge each one, but your PD/Producer has been struggling with the equipment in our studio, and am pretty frustrated.

This ought to cheer us all up, however. It's Mel Brooks' birthday and not only are the tributes to the man wonderful, but touching as well.

Mel is obviously touched and he tears up a bit.

Hi WA2K.
Nice little piece by the King Ed, and a fabulous tribute
show to Mel Brooks Miss Letty, star studded.

@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks, euroGeorge for your comments, and you sent me searching.

In 1987 Fairground Attraction were signed to RCA, and launched their first single, "Perfect", in April 1988. It was an immediate success, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart. Their album The First of a Million Kisses was a blend of folk, jazz, country, and cajun elements (all but one of its songs being written by Nevin). Released in May 1988, it followed the success of "Perfect" by entering the UK Albums Chart at number three, and rising to number two; it was eventually certified platinum. Three other singles were released from the same album: "Find My Love" (which reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart), "A Smile in a Whisper", and "Clare".

At the 1989 BRIT Awards "Perfect" won the award for best single, and The First of a Million Kisses won best album.

Perfect was perfect. Thanks.

Now, another famous birthday, yawl.

@eurocelticyankee,
I knew most of those songs, Irish. I recall the duo of Rodgers and Hart.

Tracy Chapman's Baby Can I hold You was a great song. Don't know her, but she is one marvelous performer.

Here's an interesting version of an old song.

Irish, the reason that I played that Can Can song was because I put one on Miss Iz's Yabber forum. It was Marilyn Monroe. Poor, poor Marilyn. "...a candle in the wind..."

You sent me searching again, Euro.

Robert Allen Palmer (19 January 1949 – 26 September 2003), born in Batley, Yorkshire, was a Grammy Award-winning English singer-songwriter. He was known for his distinctive voice and the eclectic mix of musical styles on his albums, combining soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae and blues. He found success both in his solo career and in the supergroup Power Station, and had Top 10 songs in both the US and the UK.

Loved that song by him.

edgar, I don't know Roy Wood but Song of Praise was fantastic. We always appreciate yours and Euro's comments.

Today is King Henry the VIII's birthday, so here is Herman's Hermit's with some humor and history.

This song is from a worn record, but it's the only version I could find by the original artist.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Loved Tex Butler's I Reckon I'm a Texan and since euro's song about Galileo didn't work I assume you did that one for him. Ah, dear Elvis's Reconsider Baby was good, but in a way sad.

Going to say goodnight with Omar.
