@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, hate it about the rain. Perhaps we need Reyn back.

Don't know Play Me by Neil. Great one, and thanks for the memory. Still love Sweet Caroline by him.

Today is Miles Davis' birthday. How about a listen, then.

@Old Goat,
You're welcome Og,

I think the word you're looking for is nerd,

or loser with to much time on his hands Razz .

I've been manning the office for the last few weeks and the boredom
is driving me insane, I need to get back out on the road again.

Anyhoo, better get back to drawing, scribbling and staring at the phone Rolling Eyes

Nina Simone - Baltimore.

Beat-up little seagull
On a marble stair
Tryin' to find the ocean
Lookin' everywhere

Hard times in the city
In a hard town by the sea
Ain't nowhere to run to
There ain't nothin' here for free

Hooker on the corner
Waitin' for a train
Drunk lyin' on the sidewalk
Sleepin' in the rain

And the people hide their faces
And they hide their eyes
'Cause the city's dyin'
And they don't know why

Oh, Baltimore
Man, it's hard just to live
Oh, Baltimore
Man, ain't it hard just to live, just to live

Get my sister Sandy
And my little brother Ray
Buy a big old wagon
Gonna haul us all away

Live out in the country
Where the mountain's high
Never gonna come back here
'Til the day I die

Oh, Baltimore
Man, it's hard just to live
Oh, Baltimore
Ain't it hard just to live, just to live

Yep, folks, music is the universal language.

Hurry back , Brit. Liked Nina's Baltimore and thanks for your comment on the band made of rubber. Razz

Irish, your Ry Cooder Route 66 reminded me of Nat Cole's version. Great visuals on your video and I had no idea there was a Paris, Texas.

Let's listen to Nat, then since it's Peggy Lee's birthday, a tribute to her.

Very sad news. Bob Welles died today.

Under the wide and starry sky

Dig the grave and let me lie.

Glad did I live and gladly die,

And I laid me down with a will.

This be the verse you grave for me:

Here he lies where he longed to be;

Home is the sailor, home from the sea,

And the hunter home from the hill.

Bird on a Wire was perfect, edgar.

Sent this one to him and Diane when they were in London.

@Letty,
This is so sad.

Don't ask me how, but Dys and I had a little chat once or twice, and it turned out that we were in the same line of work, although he'd reached much giddier heights than me.
I also found that we had another thing in common - we were both great fans of the late Townes Van Zandt....I think Dys actually knew him, but don't quote me on that one. He certainly had a great admiration for the man, so I think it's only right that I play one or two from him.

I'm no good at mushy stuff, so I'll just go ahead and insert the link. If Lady D should read this, then these are also for you, even though you've probably heard them many times over.

And a proper Cowboy song for a proper Cowboy, who will be sorely missed.

Irish, You Remain by Willie Nelson was perfect. I always thought that Bob looked a lot like him.

edgar, Beyond the Sunset was a marvelous choice. Dear Hank, dear Bob.

O.G. Green Dollar Woman and Dollar Bill Blues By Townes was one that Bob would appreciate. He didn't like "mushy" either.

I am going to take the liberty of dedicating this one to Bob from Diane.

My love, you are you my love
I hear your voice,
And I listen to the sea.
It sounds just like your breathing
And all the love you want to give me
This love
That is there, hidden
Hidden among the waves
All the waves in the world
Just like a boat that....

Look at this world
Spinning with us
Even in the dark
Look at this world
Spinning for us
Giving us hope,
And some sun, sun, sun,
Some sun, sun, sun.

Look at this world
Spinning with us
Giving us some sun,
Mighty sun
Mighty sun
Mighty sun

Bob liked a lot of different music but two of his favorites are Poco and JJ Cale. Here's Poco singing a JJ Cale song.

@JPB,
Flower lady, Magnolia was beautiful, especially the visuals.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with another one for Diane and Bob.

Good morning people. That is a neat video, barry. Yesterday was the birthday of Peggy Lee, as letty so astutely observed. I loved her, both as person and performer. It was the day we lost Bob Wells. Today may be a better day. I will keep my fingers crossed.
