Welcome back, edgar. Loved your comments on what we play here.

Song of the Naturalist Wife by Donovan was great, as was Rex Allen's Tiny Bubbles.

euroGeorge, I hope your daughter got a smile out of that remark. I know that I did.

You don't have to be a star Lang Lang to be on our radio.

And one by Stephen Foster that is awesome.

Sheeze, I had hoped that my thorax would have improved by now. Nope!

Very sensitive lang lang video, letty. Great artist.
Jeannie with the light brown Hair - a good treatment of a great song. Some of Stephen Foster's lyrics are not acceptable, these days, but I read a biography years ago, which described him as a friend of the people called "darkies" in his songs. One instance: In the book, his friend, Joe, lay on his death bed. When Stephen went to see him, he asked, "Where is the song you promised to write for me?" According to the biographer, Stephen composed Old Black Joe on the spot. I know of some good recordings of that song, but have always feared I would be accused of racism to share them.

@edgarblythe,
I used to tell my students: That was then; this is now. Everything should be interpreted in the light of the setting event, edgar. Same with the Virginia state song. When one thinks of "Joe" loving Stephen Foster, and the dude in the song, Carry Me Back to Old Virginia, loving Virginia, it puts a different light on things.

thanks again for your comment. Lang Lang is fabulous.

Well, it's this guy's birthday, so here's a tribute.

Cattle Call is heard in these parts each year, when the trail riders come from great distances for the livestock show and rodeo. Many riders are awakend on the trail by Eddie's record.

@edgarblythe,
D A D counting the cattle was hilarious, edgar. I didn't know that about Eddy awakening the trail riders, etc.

Speaking of horses and ponies, here's a one trick pony guy.

@edgarblythe,
True about Paul, edgar. Missed Merle, however will listen later.

My word, I do NOT know Polly Bergen but she is fantastic. Also love the ballads that she sang and I know them all. Thanks, Texas.

Here's another cowboy that we have discussed before, because I was stunned at how great his voice was. As we mature, we realize how good some performers that we shunned as a kid become as we began to listen instead of looking.

I used to hear Jimmy Wakely on the radio as a boy. He also played a singing cowboy on a radio show, I believe I recall.

Great music on WA2K today.

edgar, Merle Travis' Re-Enlistment Blues was great; also loved the dummy. He was funny. Don't know I Don't Want to be Free by Jimmy and Margaret, but it was great. Ah, Texas, The Paper Garden by Raven and Johnny's Wild is the Wind were both excellent. That version of The Donkey Serenade was as good as Allan's

Hey, Brit. You get some sleep; you need it and watch out for those candles. Craig's When My Little Girl is Smiling was so tender. Thanks, London.

Saying goodnight with two songs.

First, inspired by our edgar, the theme from the Sand Pebbles. Here is some info on the movie.

The Sand Pebbles is a 1966 American period war film directed by Robert Wise. It tells the story of an independent, rebellious U.S. Navy Machinist's Mate aboard the fictional gunboat USS San Pablo in 1920s China.

The Sand Pebbles features Steve McQueen, Richard Attenborough, Richard Crenna, Candice Bergen, Mako and Marayat Andriane (later known as a writer of erotic fiction - Emmanuelle Arsan). Robert Anderson adapted the screenplay from the 1962 novel of the same name by Richard McKenna.

Now the theme by Matt Monroe.

Now one that is music and history, yawl.

So nice to see Dublin, Paris, and London with us today.

Goodnight all,

From Letty with love

I thoroughly enjoyed The Sand Pebbles, letty. It was a good movie, although I did not agree with the part of the story ending, which allowed McQueen's character to get killed. It was a gratuitous decision by the author. Matt as always does great with the theme.

Kiki Dee Band - I Got The Music In Me.

Ain't got no trouble in my life,
No foolish dream to make me cry.
I'm never frightened or worried,
I know I'll always get by.
I heat up
I cool down
When something gets in my way I go round it.
Don't let life get me down
Gonna take it the way that I found it.

I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me

They say that life is a circle
But that ain't the way that I've found it.
Gonna move in a straight line
Keeping my feet firmly on the ground.
I heat up
I cool down
I got words in my head so I say them.
Don't let life get me down,
Catch a hold of my blues gonna play them.

I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me

Feel funky
Feel good
Gonna tell ya
I'm in the neighbourhood
Gonna fly like a bird on the wing
Hold on to your hat honey,
Sing, sing, sing, sing
Heat up, cool down
I got words in my head so I say them
Don't let life get me down
Catch a hold of my blues gonna play them.

I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me..........

Ain't got no trouble in my life,
No foolish dream to make me cry.
I'm never frightened I'm never worried,
I know, I know I'll always get by.

I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me
I got the music in me

Don't let it get ya down
Don't let it get ya down
Don't let it get you down
Don't let it get ya down
Don't let it get ya down

I got the music
Pretty music
I got the music
In me

Don't let it get you down

No
Don't let it
Don't let it
Don't let it get ya down
Don't let it get ya down
Don't let it
Don't let it
Don't let it

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, loved your goodnight song by The Platters. My Dream was great. Thanks again for your comments on what we play here. Don't over do, Texas.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back. I've Got the Music in Me was great and love the visuals on Bollywood's Needle in a Haystack ; the music behind it was fantastic.

It seems as though The Endeavor launch has been delayed until eight o clock today. Was up early to watch it thinking six o clock. Ah, well.

Today is this guy's birthday, so here is a tribute.
