@edgarblythe,
Wow! Love Mama I'm Coming Home by Ozzy. I remember this, edgar.

Ozzy, at one of his concerts in Des Moines, Iowa, accidentally bit the head off a bat. At certain shows Ozzy would throw raw meat at the crowd before the band started playing. Every now and again the fans would throw stuff back. They would throw raw meat and rubber animals. One fan threw a live bat on stage. The bat, stunned by the stage lights, did not move a muscle. Ozzy, thinking it was a rubber bat, bit the head off. After this he was promptly rushed to the hospital and was given multiple shots to prevent rabies. He also bit the head of a dove off during a CBS meeting, but this wasn't on accident. He bit the head off of the dove to induce a sort of shock factor, because he was getting angry with the managers and producers. He was also very intoxicated and/or under the influence at the time, as he explains in his recent autobiography; 'I AM OZZY'. Many critics believe that this helped to spark popularity when he began his solo career.

My mama should have told me not to go.

A guy that served on my ship came back off liberty, drunk, carrying a chicken. When the quarterdeck watch told him to lose the chicken he bit off its head and tossed it in the water.

I bought the record of Mama Told Me the same week it was released.

@edgarblythe,
That was funny, edgar.

Couldn't understand the lyrics to Connie's Mama, so here they are

When the evening shadows fall
and the lovely day is through
Then with longing I recall
the years I spent with you

Mama, I miss the days
when you were near to guide me
Mama, those happy days
when you were here beside me

Safe in the glow of your love
Sent from the heavens above
Nothing can ever replace
The warmth of your tender embrace

Oh, Mama, until the day
that we're together once more
I'll live in these memories
Until the day that we're together once more

Odd, I was looking at a picture of my mama sitting in a wing backed chair with her ankles crossed. A good memory.

Guess who I'm going to play.

@edgarblythe,
Indeed he does, edgar.

Oh, my word, that's another twisted fairy tale. The music is lovely, but I remember Gothel as a witch-like person from Rapunzel by The Brothers Grimm. Loved those fairy tales, Texas. Fortunately the ending was perfect. Mother did NOT know best in that one.

Another birthday man, and I love this one as it makes me want to learn Hungarian dancing.

I am presently at work. Had to replace a condensor fan. Waiting now for the compressor to cool enough to kick on.

Brahms for a Sunday morning. One could do worse. Good morning. I had to replace that condensing unit yesterday and then had to replace a second one, just around the corner. Came home after dark, too tired to function.
Let's hope Peggy Lee has the right take on this Sunday, which is also Mothers Day.

@edgarblythe,
Well, thanks to you, edgar. I was afraid that Halley's meteor shower had destroyed our signal.

Love Good Day by Peggy Lee and yesterday was Brahms' birthday. Today, it's this guy's and here is a tribute to him by his sons.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar, and for all our mom's out there.

http://www.lwjuan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/12650_MothersDay.jpg

I didn't know that one by Ricky, but it was great, and he looked wonderful.

So long ago I wrote this one for my mom.

I'm thinking right now of my mom,
As I think I just can't help a smile
I can picture her quite clearly
Playing hymns she loved so dearly
Singing with her eyes closed all the while

I'm thinking right now of my mom,
Of the soft felt slippers she wears
The clear blue of her eyes
Her homemade apple pies
And the hands that soothed away
My childish cares

I think of her often
I want her to know
Of the love that I feel
And don't often show.

I never write letters it seems
And my gifts are quite often too few

And though I'm still that way,
I just want to say,

I'm thinking right now mom of you.

That's a nice poem and nice sentiment, letty. My mind is basically turned toward my job just now. Thought I would post one of my lyrics to honor the mood.

Overworked Maintenance Man Blues

When I woke up this morning
I had just one hour on my bed
When I got up this morning
Feeling like I was almost dead
When I got dressed this morning
I looked down at my wife and I said

I got the Maintenance Man Blues this morning
Don..t expect no kiss good-bye
Because I ain..t never been quit working
To tell you good-bye would be a lie
I spent last night bailing water
Cause the water tank it broke
I spent last night moving furniture
Cause it all so water soak
I spent last night pulling carpet
While the resident screaming like to croak
I got the Maintenance Man Blues this morning
Don..t expect no kiss good-bye
Because I ain..t never been quit working
To tell you good-bye would be a lie
I got to paint six apartments
While changing air condition machine
I got to make ready those apartments
While making swimming pool clean
I got to even shampoo those apartments
Why the boss man so doggone mean
That..s why I got the Maintenance Man Blues this morning
So don..t expect no kiss good-bye
Because I ain..t never been quit working
To tell you good-bye would be a big fat lie

@edgarblythe,
edgar, first allow me to say those lyrics to Maintenance Man Blues were awesome. (little Letty was proud of that poem and thanks for your comment)

Never heard that one by "the cat man" but If Only Mother Could See Me Now was tender

Robert Johnson's Sweet Home Chicago was wonderful but somehow sad as well.

From the Fab Four and featuring Paul.

Jes, Welcome back. Really enjoyed I'll Always Love my Mama. Thanks, gal.

edgar, thanks for the explanation about Paul's song. I didn't know that, Texas.

Marty Robbin's son's song was great. Yep, Mamas alway try, buddy.

Here's another son of a famous father. First, a bit of info behind it.

Hero" is a single released by Enrique Iglesias from his second English album Escape and was written for his good friend Simon Baxendale, by Iglesias, Paul Barry and Mark Taylor. Enrique first released the song to radio in early September 2001 to a positive critical and commercial reception. After the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, the song was one of the few songs chosen by radio DJs in New York to be remixed with audio from police, firefighters, civilians at Ground Zero and politicians commenting on the attacks. He was asked to sing the song live at the benefit concert America: A Tribute to Heroes ten days after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Iglesias broadcast his performance from a warehouse in New York alongside Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Sheryl Crow. The location of the warehouse was kept secret in case of further attacks. It was Iglesias' first televised performance of the song. He had performed the song earlier at that year's Miss Venezuela but due to the terrorist attacks the show was not aired on television.

I'm certain that many mothers appreciated that Hero.

I like Enrique's songs, but rarely understand the words.
Here is one by Lefty Frizell. He wrote this song to his parents and gave them all the proceeds it generated
