This lady has to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a poem, inspired by neco nomad, and a song that may describe everyone's life.

First, Robert Browning.

HOME THOUGHTS FROM ABROAD

Oh, to be in England
Now that April 's there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England—now!

And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossom'd pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops—at the bent spray's edge—
That 's the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
The first fine careless rapture!
And though the fields look rough with hoary dew,
All will be gay when noontide wakes anew
The buttercups, the little children's dower
—Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!

Robert Browning

Now a great song by a fabulous duo.

Glad that London was with us today.

From Letty with love, a poem, and a song

The Girl I Left Behind is the same tune as other songs I've heard. One was about Daniel Boone.

Good morning from Florida to WA2K radio.

edgar, thanks again for your comment and Stan Freberg's parody on Mr. Foster was hilarious. Wow! Love that Fredi's Venezuela. Thanks for the introduction

Hey, Brit. Love that duo. Tony and George were fabulous. Nice to see a Greek and an Italitan "...keep the music playing.."

Two songs for the beginning of the day here.

First one to match edgar's.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, your comments on what we play here are always appreciated, and Careless Love by Ray was truly good.

My sister and I used to sing this with Careless Love and it worked perfectly.

Jimmy sings it more like the original version than most artists do. Better than I expected.

The Glen Campbell song was written by Mac Davis. Mac gets around.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for that info, edgar. Mac's You're My Bestest Friend was great. Didn't know that one by him, however.

Yep, Mac gets around and here's another group that does as well.

@edgarblythe,
I played The Beach boys for two reasons, edgar. One, because it followed your Mac "gets around" and secondly, because they were influenced by The Four Freshmen.

I vaguely recall Sophie B Hawkins. Here's one to match her Mama.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know that one by dear Hank, edgar. Thanks for the memory. I was going to match your Hank with Hank Snow, but I found this version that is great, Texas.
