@edgarblythe,
She said it was just a figment of speech
And I said "You mean figureAnd she said "No, figment
Because she could never imagine it happening. But it did
When we first met I played the Shy boy
When she spoke to me for the first time my nose began to bleed
She guessed the rest
The next day we went on a bus ride to the ferry
And when nobody came to collect our fares
Well I knew then this was something special
I couldn't stop thinking about her
And every time I switched on the radio
There was somebody else singing a song about the two of us
It was just like being on a fast ride at the fun fair
The sort you want to get off because its scary
And then as soon as you're off you want get straight back on again
But all love is strange
And you have to learn to take the crunchy with the smooth I suppose
She began going out with Mr. Potato Head
It was when I saw her in he car park
With his coat around her shoulders that I realized
I went home and thought about the two of them together
Until the bathwater went cold around me
I thought about her eyes and the curve of her breasts
And about the point where their bodies met
I confronted her about it
I said, "I'm the most illegible bachelor in town!" and she said "Yeah that's why I
could never understand any of those silly letters you sent me"
And then one day it happened
She cut her hair and I stopped loving her
The Dubliners are a good bunch, letty. And of course I like anything by Bobby Darin (except, tired of Splish Splash)

John Anderson
Don't know John Anderson, edgar, but that song was swingin' Thanks for the introduction. Your John Anderson reminded me of a poem by Robert Burns.
John Anderson, my Jo
JOHN ANDERSON, my jo, John,
When we were first acquent,
Your locks were like the raven,
Your bonnie brow was brent;
But now your brow is beld, John,
Your locks are like the snow;
But blessings on your frosty pow,
John Anderson, my jo!
John Anderson, my jo, John,
We clamb the hill thegither;
And monie a canty day, John,
We've had wi' ane anither:
Now we maun totter down, John,
But hand in hand we'll go,
And sleep thegither at the foot,
John Anderson, my jo.

Tom Baxter - Light Me Up.
There's a light in my life
And its taking me over .
All of my life I've waited for this
Like a flume in the night
You comfort and guide me out of my darkest hours .
Coz you light me up when you're around and you give me hope and strength that carries on and now I know what love means
The invisible threads that circle around me
They start at my heart and crawl right out of my skin
When I am all in the dark I still feel you beside me
But I will never let you go
Coz you light me up when you're around and you give me hope and a strength that carries on and now I know what love means
I trust in you, I trust in you, I trust in you, I trust in you
Coz you light me up when you're around and you give me hope and a strength that carries on
and now I know what love means
and now I know what love means
and now I know what love means
There's a light in my life
And its taking me over.
Our love has changed,
It’s not the same,
And the only way to say it
Is say it .. it’s better.
I can’t conceal,
This way I feel,
For all the time we spent, together,
Forever .. just gets better.
See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things .. better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here .. it’s better.
I’ll stand by you,
If you stand by me.
I think it's time that I, reveal it,
‘Coz I believe it
It’s better
See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things .. better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here .. it’s better
Ooh the more I .. talk .. to .. you
I fall in love with
E .. vry .. thing .. you .. do
Doo doo doo doo doo doo
See what I’m trying to say
You make things .. better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here .. it’s better
See what I’m trying to say
You make things .. better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here .. it’s better
Our love has changed
It’s not the same
And the only way to say it
Is say it .. it’s better

Good morning from Florida, WA2K folks.
Rock, loved your goodnight song. John Baldry's Everything Stops 4 Tea was great.
edgar, Lime House Blues was a good one as well.
You hurry back, buddy.
Francis, True Companion by Mark Cohn was new to me, but I really like it. Thanks, France.
Hey, Brit. Enjoyed both your Tom Baxter songs. Glen and Marketa's Falling Slowly was a bit sad, however.
Hope JPB responds to your final one, buddy.
I love Robert Browning, so the poem for the morning is Pippa Passes.
The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearled
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his Heaven -
All's right with the world!
