Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, Once again, thanks for your comments on what we play here.

Elvis's song, That's When Your Heartache Begins was great. Never heard that one, and Chad Mitchell's song, Imitation of Life really was a philosophy in music. I particularly like the allusion to crocodile tears: "superficial sympathy".

Francis, Kate Winslet's What If was awesome. I recall her dropping the gem into the ocean, and I have a necklace with that stone, but cannot find it anywhere, even though I have searched.

Two songs for the morning, yawl.

First another philosophy in a song by Old Blue Eyes. I found some interesting thing about Francis Albert that nullifies many notions that I possessed concerning the man.

First, You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You.

Now, One that I never knew Bobby Darin had done.

Dear Bobby and Sandra. Had no idea about her life after his death either.

Sinatra remains as great to me as when I first discovered his music, letty.
Bobby Darin recorded so many songs in his short lifetime, it is hard even for a fan like me to get them all.

@edgarblythe,
Great one by Bobby and Pet, edgar. Didn't the Everly Brothers do that one as well?

I became interested in Frank because of my older sister. She was a bobby soxer.

Today is "Leadbelly's" birthday. Here is a tribute to him.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Leadbelly, edgar. I always thought the song went "...in the mines, in the mines where the sun never shines..."

Here's Willie to sing about the mines.

Dark as a Dungeon is one of those masterpiece songs that should last forever. (Of course, with all the electronics these days, no songs being written are likely to be lost).

@edgarblythe,
Silver Wings by Merle reminds me of Olen. He was a pilot in WWII, and flew both the European and the Pacific theater. He does wear a pair of silver wings, edgar.

Thanks again for your comment, buddy.

I was reviewing Francis' Kate Winslet song and thought of this short story.

An eccentric aging physician, Dr. Heidegger, calls together his moldy old friends and contemporaries to test his waters of the "fountain of youth". As the doctor himself sits by to enjoy the show, each of his four aged friends eagerly quaffs more and more of the magic potion, each draught further carrying them backwards into their shared youth. Having grown young, smooth-skinned and agile again, the three men begin to fight for the favors of the fourth compatriot now restored to her former beauty.

In the heat of the fracas, they begin to grow tired and within minutes the effect of the "water" has worn off. The participants in the brief respite from old age are devastated by the transience of the experience. Despite Heidegger's warning that he has learned to appreciate the advantage of age by watching the four of them make themselves fools, they learned no such lesson and resolve to make a pilgrimage to Florida to seek the Fountain

Yep, we'd make the same mistakes.

A birthday boy, yawl. (wonder where euroGeorge is?)

Been doing some research, and found out that Vaya Con Dios is the name of a band from Belgium. Dani Klein is the lead vocalist. Great jazz song and I especially like the acoustic bass. Thanks, Francis.

edgar, I didn't know the guy either, but since today was his birthday, thought I'd play him.

Ah Patti Page. She introduced (I think) singing in harmony with herself. Throw Moma from the Train was one that I have never heard. Thanks, edgar, for the memory.

Here's a jazz vocalist that I just discovered, and she does bits pieces of famous jazz songs.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Marvin Rainwater, edgar, but I liked that song. I've always wondered why the bluebird was a symbol of happiness. I guess it doesn't matter, however. Glad that you like Camilla. I thought that she was excellent.

Speaking of bluebirds, yawl.

@edgarblythe,
Goodnight, edgar. Loved Don Gibson's Legend in My Time. Thanks again for your comment on Jan. Perhaps a bluebird will be sitting on our shoulders soon.

Today is Buffy St. Marie's birthday, so I'm saying goodnight with a tribute to her.
