Shearing - Good tribute, letty. I especially like Peggy Lee, no matter who she sings with -
Changing up a bit now, with Jerry Lee Lewis doing Hank Williams

Leading actors Daniel Day Lewis and Kevin Spacey have celebrated the life of late actor Pete Postlethwaite at a London memorial service today.
Day Lewis, who co-starred with Postlethwaite in the movie "In the Name of the Father," led the addresses at a London church.
He spoke of their days training together at the Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol, where his first professional assignment was as Postlethwaite's understudy.

Fantastic mix of music on WA2K this evening.

edgar, thanks again for your comments, and I don't know Jerry Lee's version of Hank Williams' You Win Again. Great!

Hey, Brit. What a fantastic collection of Brassed Off. Danny Boy is also Londerry Air.

That one by Haydn is perfect and Rodrigo's Concierto a delight.

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I shall do so with two songs,

First, Midnight in Moscow in Russian.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggCQx5MtzX8

Replete with lyrics in English.

Stillness in the grove
Not a rustling sound
Softly shines the moon clear and bright
Dear, if you could know
How I treasure so
This most beautiful Moscow Night

Lazily the brook like a silvery stream
Ripples in the light of the moon
And a song afar fades as in a dream
In this night that will end too soon
Yes a song afar fades as in a dream
In this night that will end too soon

Dearest, why so sad, why the downcast eyes
And your lovely head bent so low
Oh, I mustn’t speak, though I’d love to say
That you’ve stolen my heart away

Promise me my love, as the dawn appears
And the darkness turns into light
That you’ll cherish dear, through the passing years
This most beautiful Moscow Night

Say you’ll cherish dear through the passing years
This most beautiful Moscow Night

Now Jo with Flow Gently Sweet Afton (Robert Burns)

So nice to have different countries with us tonight.

Midnight in Moscow is a favorite that I can never quite place until I hear it again.
Jo Stafford is one of my favorite artists when she is being serious.
Maurice Chevalier for my good night song

Sandi Thom - Time.

Roller skates and bumblebees
Holding hands and grazing knees
Dressing up and falling down
Paul and Mike are coming round

Being good to stay up late
Forget to shut the garden gate
Built a house up in a tree
Been making plans since I was three

Time catches everyone
And the world goes round the sun
And the memory lives on in my heart
Going back to the start

Skiving french and stealing mars
Hanging out in Rosie's bar
Getting changed straight after school
Smoking fags and playing pool

Rainbow coming over me
But I like Graham Connelly
Getting caught in someone's car
This time kid you've gone too far

Time catches everyone
And the world goes round the sun
But the memory lives on in my heart
Time catches everyone
And the world goes round the sun
But the memory lives on in my heart
Going back to the start
Forever forever forever

Up and down to Liverpool
Learning lines to play the fool
Hanging out at Hannah's bar
Got too drunk to drive the car

And even though I'd love to stay
It's time to work not to time to play
And even though you're now for me
Soon you'll be a memory

Time catches everyone
And the world goes round the sun
And the memory lives on in my heart
Time catches everyone
And the world goes round the sun
And the memory lives on in my heart
Going back to the start
Forever forever forever

Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker.

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In seventy-seven and sixty-nine revolution was in the air
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When the head of state didn't play guitar
Not everybody drove a car
When music really mattered and when radio was king
When accountants didn't have control
And the media couldn't buy your soul
And computers were still scary and we didn't know everything

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In seventy-seven and sixty-nine revolution was in the air
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When pop stars still remained a myth
And ignorance could still be bliss
And when god saved the queen she turned a whiter shade of pale
My mom and dad were in their teens
And anarchy was still a dream
And the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In seventy-seven and sixty-nine revolution was in the air
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When record shops were still on top
And vinyl was all that they stocked
And the super info highway was still drifting out in space
Kids were wearing hand me downs
And playing games meant kick arounds
And footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In seventy-seven and sixty-nine revolution was in the air
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

edgar, Never heard Hello Beautiful by Maurice. Thanks for the introduction and the comments on what we play here.

Hey, Brit. Love Sandi Thom's Time and I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker. Never heard her either.

Well, Francis, that is one that I do know.

Black Orpheus (Portuguese: Orfeu Negro) is a 1959 film made in Brazil by French director Marcel Camus. It is based on the play Orfeu da Conceição by Vinicius de Moraes, which is an adaptation of the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, setting it in the modern context of a favela in Rio de Janeiro during the Carnaval. The film was an international co-production between production companies in Brazil, France and Italy.

A day in the life of a fool
A sad and a long lonely day
I walk the avenue
And hope I'll run into
The welcome sight of you
Coming my way

I stop just across from your door
But you're never home any more
So back to my room
And there in the gloom
I cry tears of good bye
Till you come back to me
That's the way it will be
Every day in the life of fool

@edgarblythe,
Hurry back, edgar. We have a new face on the horizon.

Bryan White (born February 17, 1974, in Lawton, Oklahoma) is an American country music artist. Signed to Asylum Records in 1994 at age 20, White released his self-titled debut album that year. Both it and its follow-up, 1996's Between Now and Forever, were certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and 1997's The Right Place was certified gold. His fourth album, 1999's How Lucky I Am, failed to produce any major singles, and he was dropped from the label's roster.

White has charted seventeen singles on the Billboard country charts, of which four reached Number One: "Someone Else's Star" in 1995, "Rebecca Lynn" and "So Much for Pretending" in 1996, and "Sittin' on Go" in 1997. "So Much for Pretending" was the most successful of these songs, spending two weeks at Number One.

Don't know Bryan, but I love this song.
