I recall the history lesson: Glenn Campbell throwing coconuts at Bonaparte made him retreat. Fortunately, his army left a trail of breadcrumbs to follow all the way home.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, That was hilarious. You are clever with words, Texas. I really loved Summer Nights from Grease. Thanks for the memory.

Hey, Brit. Did your neighbors complain about the noise? Razz

Don't know Raphael nor Latimore, but the songs were great.

Rock, Rubber Band Man is one of my favorites. Good morning to you.

Today is Abe Lincoln's birthday, so here is a tribute to the man.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t9xoG-5Bq0&feature=fvwrel

Timely, cause I just found what that little gal Baby Doll played on my mom's upright Kimball piano.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pshan_m5WZM&feature=related

and, yawl, the lyrics.

We are our heavenly Father's children
And we all know that He loves us one and all
Yet there are times when we find we answer
Another's voice and call
If we are willing, He will teach us
His voice only to obey no matter where
And He knows Yes, He knows
Just how much we can bear

(Verse)
Think of the times you've asked the question
Down in your heart now just what shall I do
Then you confide in your friends and loved ones
But they have troubles too
There is a God who rules earth and heav'n
In Him there's relief from every pain or care
For He know, Yes He knows
Just how much we can bear

He knows how much we can bear is a nice one, letty. The Lincoln tribute and birthday prompts me to dedicate this Judy Collins song to old Abe.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Judy Collins, edgar. It rather gives the personal eye witness sensation of seeing history made.

Today is Steve Hackett's birthday, and although I don't know him, this is a lovely song.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Thanks for your comment. WOW! I never heard The BeeGees do anything so beautiful. It is indeed a masterpiece. I know the sound of the double bass being bowed, Texas.

I just discovered that the statue is one of Duc de Richelieu of France. My goodness, we are incorporating every country today.

Inspired by your song, here is a tale of The Baltic Sea.

No ma'am, Thames now clean.

And they're considering spending a whole lot of money (new outfall sewer) to make it cleaner still,

edgar, I loved Mario's Golden Days from The Student Prince. Never heard that one, Texas, and thanks again for your comment.

Well, Today is Michael McDonald's birthday, so here's a tribute to him.

Hi, everyone! This is one of my favorite performances by a female vocalist. I went to see Linda Ronstadt in concert during the 1970's. She and her band did a long version of the song, as they do in this concert video.

edgar, thanks again for your comment. I think that I have heard all of Peter, Paul, and Mary songs. Love that one. Ain't no use in turning on your light babe.

Love it, Texas.

Wandel, welcome back. That one by Linda was awesome. You're no Good is one that I had forgotten. I always liked her Desperado, too.

Here's the first song that I ever heard by Billy Joel. The beginning of the song is an old classic and it'll be stuck in my head the rest of the day

The Billy Joel song was the theme to Tom Hanks' TV series, Bosom Buddies, before I knew Billy Joel.
Linda Ronstadt's You're No Good conjures a tale of when I assisted a contractor in the building of apartment housing. He was wrangling with the builder over his retainer fee, when we all walked past a radio. The song playing was You're No Good. My boss said, "Listen to that. I think it's trying to tell you something." I don't actually know if he was successful at getting the money.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks for the info on Bosom Buddies. Had no idea that was the theme song. Funny also about You're No Good and the contractor.

Don't know Gertrude, buddy, but I do know Gershwin. Thanks for the memory.

This may sound strange, but I like Billy Better Bald. Razz

Another birthday boy, yawl.
