Good morning WA2K from here in my Florida studio.

Welcome back, Brit. I wasn't old enough to access your Queen song. Sorry! Razz

Enjoyed all the songs played here on our radio. Wish I could acknowledge each one, but I'm a bit lethargic this A.M.

Thanks to edgar and euroGeorge for all the comments.

Bobby Darin's My Buddy was great as was Sinatra's That's Life.

The Marty song was inspired by Don McLean's reference and I like his voice.

Today is Carol King's birthday, and here is one by that fabulous lady.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, thanks again for your comment on Carol. She is awesome, and the Beatles' I'll Follow the Son" was just what I wanted to hear, because it is a beautiful day here where I live.

Today is Travis Tritt's birthday. Don't know him but he is great.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't realize that Jerry Lee's Together Again was from The Greatest Show on Earth, edgar. That was delightful.

How about a little Frank for the late afternoon.

@Letty,
Jerry Lee had a record album titled The Greatest Live Show on Earth. I bought it in 1964. Lost it somewhere along the way.
Love the Sinatra song.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, Thanks for the explanation, Texas. The reason that I like Heather on the Hill is because it was on my Jam Session album played by some wonderful musician playing saxophone.

How about a little Dave and Paul. This is a surprise.

Wow! I love that Rovin' Gambler by Ramblin Jack, edgar. Here's one to match by Kenny, Johnny, and Elvis. It's odd, but I like it.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I had no idea that Bob Dylan did Man of Constant Sorry. Fantastic, and thanks again for your comment.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

Today is Alice Walker's birthday, and I saw the movie, but had no idea that The Color Purple was also a musical.

First, Fantasia.

Joan Armatrading - Show Some Emotion.

Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad then let those tears roll down

Some people hurting
Someone choking up inside
Some poor souls dying
Too proud to say they got no place to lie
And there's people if they hear a joke
Can't keep the laugh out of their eye

I said
Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad
Then let those tears roll down

Some people in love
But all they got's a photograph
How can they get it
Too scared to open their mouth and ask

I said
Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad
Then let those tears roll down

Come on try
Come on try
Come on try
Learn to bleed
When you get a bad fall
Light up
Light up light up
If your feeling happy
But if it's bad
Then let those tears roll down

I said
Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up
If you're feeling happy
But if it's bad
Then let those tears roll down

Come on try
Come on try
Come on try
Learn to bleed
When you get a bad fall
Light up
If your feeling happy
But if it's bad
Then let those tears roll down

Light up
Light up
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad
Then let those tears roll down

But if it's bad
Then let those tears roll down

Good early morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, I loved your goodnight song. My word, Texas, Little Jimmy Dickens? I need to check him out. Johnny, of course was great.

Hey Brit, Welcome back. You sent me to the archives again.

Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading, MBE (born 9 December 1950) is a British singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Armatrading is a three-time Grammy Award-nominee and has been nominated twice for BRIT Awards as Best Female Artist. She also received an Ivor Novello award for Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection in 1996.

Fantastic, and California Soul by Marvin and Tammi was awesome. Thanks again for the introduction.

Two songs for the early morning, yawl. Razz

First, one for EuroGeorge.

Good one for euro, letty. I like the video with the foursome of great ladies, too.
To me, Roberta Flack was absolutely brilliant singing, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and Killing Me Softly. The songs she did after that made me experience a let down. She has made other good recordings, but none on the level of those classics. Maybe I am too picky.

Here is a Little Jimmy Dickens tune

Anyway, good morning a2k radio. It's a hard freeze out there this morning, with another due tonight.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comments, edgar. Out Behind the Barn was hilarious. I remember Little Jimmy for Take an Old Cold Tater and Wait. Reminds me of my adviser at UVA taking an Appalachian IQ test and asking, "What's a tater?" All of those tests are culture bound.

You're right about Roberta. Her song about Don McLean was my favorite.

Here's a fantastic one by The Beatles, Texas.

It's cold again here where I live, but no freeze expected. My bird of paradise survived the past cold winter, but no my hibiscus bush.
