Climbing the apples with Jacquie McShee and friends, better known as Pentangle - they are a British folk rock band with some folk jazz influences. The original band were active in the late 1960s and early 1970s and a later version have been active since the early 1980s. The original line-up, which was unchanged throughout the band's first incarnation (1967–1973), was: Jacqui McShee, vocals; John Renbourn, guitar; Bert Jansch, guitar; Danny Thompson, double bass; and Terry Cox, drums.

Salutations Radio People
Was traveling yesterday and spare time today is an elusive entity so let me proffer this nifty duet between Keith Richards & Nora Jones ( I will listen to all the tracks I missed yesterday)

“Love Hurts” was written by the husband and wife songwriting team of Felice and Boudleaux Bryant. It was recorded in 1960 by the Everly Bros.
The Bryants had a modicum of success with other tunes they penned for Phil and Don….esoteric ditties like “All I Have to is Dream” and Bye Bye Love, but I digress.

Good morning from snow free Florida Razz

edgar, really enjoyed Bobby Vee's Rubber Ball. Paul Evans and The Curls was funny. Them girls gave the driver good advice.

Although you are down and gone, I want you to know that we here enjoy what you play on WA2K.

Toby Keith's Every Dog Has His Day was great as was The Temptation's song and Pentangle. Thanks, London.

tcb, Welcome back again. Love Keith Richard and Norah Jones' Love hurts. We don't mind digressions here, buddy because it's the way we learn.

Speaking of Every Dog Has it's Day, y'all.

9,400-year-old dog found,;earliest found in Americas Shocked More later on that topic.

Woke up early this morning because the full moon came shining through the studio window. It inspired me to play this one by Eddie Fisher.

Had to work late today. In the drizzle, putting on new siding.
I like the Eddy Fisher song. Here is my favorite song by him

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, edgar. I like Cindy oh Cindy by Eddie as well. (you be cautious about working in the drizzle; don't want you getting no rhino virus.) Razz

I took an eight question Poe quiz and missed one. It was the story of Ligeia. Never read that one, but was I surprised to find that Hitchcock adapted it for the film Vertigo.

Here's a new face on the horizon, y'all.

Gary Barlow (born 20 January 1971) is an English singer-songwriter, pianist and record producer. He is the frontman of the pop-rock group Take That. Barlow is one of Britain's most successful songwriters. He has had two Number 1 singles and a Number 1 album as a solo singer, and has had sixteen top 5 hits, eleven Number 1 singles and seven Number 1 albums with Take That. He is a five-time recipient of the Ivor Novello Award and has been voted the greatest British songwriter of all time.

Let's listen to one by him.

Thanks for introducing us to Gary Barlow. I had not heard of him.
I was a bit surprised to learn that Conway Twitty had 30 number one country songs in a row

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment on the new guy in town, edgar. Tom T. Hall's The Old Side of Town was great. He is a prolific writer and vocalist.

Hmmm. Can't say that I like Conway's version of Mona Lisa, buddy. The only one that I ever heard it by was Nat.

From the new to the old, y'all.

Today is "Lead Belly's" birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

Hi, Miss Letty & all at WA2K.
Been Busy, busy. Just been catching up. Enjoyed all Barry's latest, especially Michael Crawford, I've always liked Michael Crawford, I seen him play the Phantom of the Opera in London, he was brilliant, a great showman.
Hamburgboy's Dutch street organ brought back some bitter sweet memories, I used to live in a apartment on Martelaarsgracht in central Amsterdam and everymorning at 07.oohrs right under my window a street organ starting playing, used to drive me crazy. Eventually I bribed him to move up the street, it was either that or kill him. Wink .
Enjoyed all Ed's offerings, Let it be me, was nice, sweet video. Bowie's China Girl is excellent, that was his renaissance period. Never heard Paul Evans before, I want to be Fred Shocked .
The piece about Poe was interesting, I did a piece on one Harry Clarke, a book illustrator, born in Dublin. He did illustrations for Poe's novels, Harry was an intriguing character, you can read about him on page 5 of my "Sounds from the Emerald isle" tread. Nice tributes to General Lee & Cezanne. Enjoyed the Oriental trend, especially the little drummer boy, awesome. Loved all the rest Miss Letty.

Rosetta Tharpe. What a Gal.

edgar, thanks for the comment on the belly of lead. Razz

Don't know Robin Luke, but I enjoyed Susie Darlin' Found this out about the man.(sorta reminds me of Molly Darlin')

Dr. Robin Luke holda a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He is currently a professor and head of the Marketing Department at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri

Welcome back, euroGeorge. Great observations about what we play here. Wow! You know a man who illustrated some of Poe's novels. Fantastic, Irish.

Love Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Trouble in Mind is one of my favorite songs. Don't like the part about "...lay my head on some lonesome railroad line..."

Well, the morning sun ain't shining, but here one that reminds me that our Izzie has bounced back.

I think this was originally done by Simon and Garfunkel, but I like this version, too.

Paul Simon wrote Red Rubber Ball, but Cyrcle recorded it first. Not sure if Paul wrote it during the time he and Garfunkle were known as Tom and Jerry or shortly after.

Yeah I got busted
So I used my one phone call
To dedicate
A song to you on the radio

Yeah I got busted
In custody
I imagined our melody
Being played on a grand piano

I saw your face in front of me
It was perfect clarity
I saw a light in the end of the tunnel
And it was you

Chorus:
'Cause you are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the light
You are the light by which I travel into this and that

Yeah I got busted
I painted a dirty word on your old mans Mercedes-Benz
'Cause you told me to do it

Yeah I got busted
But soon they released me ‘cause the cops were sad
And they didn't know how to prove it
Ooh

I saw your face in front of me
It was perfect clarity
I saw a light in the end of the tunnel
And it was you

Chorus:
'Cause you are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the light
You are the light by which I travel into this and that

It sounds so obvious, so obvious
Why would anyone need a map or a compass?
It's so beautiful
To be guided by you
'Cause you are the light

Chorus:
You are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the light
You are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the light light light light
You are the light

Early September and the kids start school
Leaves are floating in the swimming pool
I wish I had a proper reason to cry
A reason not so abstract
More like a broken clause in a contract

All those things your'e supposed to do
I could have done them if I had you
You could have made me a righteous citizen
I could have made all those right decisions

But now I don't know who my friend is
Can you tell me Rocky Dennis
Now I don't know who my friend is
Can you tell me Rocky Dennis

Mama told me I was born a lion
Mama told me I was born with a belly to lie on
Mama told me I was born a liar
Mama told me I was born with a heart to rely on

But now I don't know who my friend is
Can you tell me Rocky Dennis
Now I don't know who my friend is
Can you tell me Rocky Dennis

Can you tell me, can you tell me tonight ooohohh ohooo
Oooh tonight
Can you tell me tonight

@djjd62,
Welcome back, dj. Jens Lekman is fabulous, Canada. Sent me searching again about Jens and Rocky.

Jens Martin Lekman (pronounced Yens born 6 February 1981 in Angered, Sweden) is a Swedish indie pop musician residing in Melbourne, Australia. His music is guitar-based pop with heavy use of samples and strings, with lyrics that are often witty, romantic, and melancholic. His work is heavily influenced by that of Jonathan Richman and Belle & Sebastian, and he has been likened to Stephin Merritt (of The Magnetic Fields) and David Byrne

Roy Lee "Rocky" Dennis (December 4, 1961 - October 4, 1978) was an American boy afflicted with craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, an extremely rare, disfiguring, sclerotic bone disorder. The condition usually results in neurological disorders and death during childhood. His body was donated to UCLA Medical Center after he died. His life was the basis for the 1985 feature drama film Mask.

Thanks for the introduction, buddy.

Eddy Arnold's Molly Darlin' inspired by our edgar.
