Hurry back, edgar, Loved Fernando by ABBA.

Hey, Irish. Thanks for accepting Billy.

Never heard David Dance before. Great, and thanks for the introduction.

Today is Robby Krieger's birthday. He played guitar for The Doors at one time.

Couldn't find a proper video for his flamenco guitar, so I decided to do this classical bit instead. It was formerly done by The Doors.

edgar, Brenda Lee is great on that one. Yep, All Alone Am I. Thanks for your comments, Texas.

Welcome back, Wandel. Fantastic song by Alanna. Had no idea it was about Elvis, buddy. Love to learn on WA2K.

dj, I've been following that story. SCARY! Love that one by Buffalo Springfield. The lyrics say it right, Canada..<big sigh>

Had to do some research, y'all.

Loved Blue Velvet Miss Letty, I didn't know Black Velvet was about
Elvis, great song.
I like Brenda, Ed, fabulous voice, but this is the Ms Dynamite I'm familiar with.

Blue Velvet is one of Bobby's better songs, letty. Ms Dynamite is good, too, but Brenda Lee was know as little miss dynamite in the 1950s, at age 11.

For what it's worth is one of the really great songs, to me.

Don't know Ms. Dynamite, Irish, but I love that minor key and she is good, too.

edgar, You know how I love "old blue eyes". He may not have been a very nice person in real life, but he could really sing. That's Life is great.

Thanks to euroGeorge and edgar for their comments.

How about some TNT? I know some of the words in English, but very few.

@eurocelticyankee,
Great one by Frank and Elvis, Irish. They are an unlikely couple. Razz I didn't know TNT either. Just following the explosive trend.

Here's one by another couple of guys that most of us know. Love it! Bob sounds great on this one.

If you listen to the lyrics of Black Velvet, it tells the story of Elvis' life even though the name Elvis is never used.

Excerpt:
Quote:
Mama's baby is in the heart of every schoolgirl
Love Me Tender leaves them crying in the aisles

Johnny Cash's daughter wrote this great song by herself. It was about her ex-husband.

@wandeljw,
I expected her to rip into him, but it sounds like she
wants him back.
Am I reading it right or am I way off.

@eurocelticyankee,
It is a sensitive song. The lyrics are interesting. She softly criticizes her husband as a fool. He is also a moderately successful country singer. She basically warns that the women chasing him are after his money.

@wandeljw,
Yes, that sounds spot on, she softly criticizes him.
Shows great maturity and maybe she still holding
a torch for him.
Off course cynical old me automatically expected
her to tear into him a little.

Like Carly.

Women chasing after him for his money, I've
never heard the like. Shocked

Thanks, wandel, for the further explanation on the lyrics to the Elvis allusion.

Also enjoyed the song by the Cash lady. Be sure and check out Johnny and Bob, y'all.

Hey, Irish. That's the first song that I heard by Carly Simon. Still like it. Thanks.

Hope our edgar checks in. I know that he would enjoy Bob Dylan on that duo.

Time for me to say goodnight, and since it's Ron Moody's birthday (He played Fagin in the movie version of Oliver)I think that I shall do so with a trailer from that great movie.

@edgarblythe,
Had no idea that Jerry Lee did that one, edgar. It's my favorite of all the Hank Williams' songs. I knew you would like Johnny and Bob. Thanks again for your comments.

Today is Joan Baez's birthday, so here is one by her replete with English translation.

Wow! the imagery of these lyrics is fantastic!

Guantanamera in English
I am a truthful man
From where the palm tree grows
And before dying I want
To let out the verses of my soul

My verse is light green
And it is flaming red
My verse is a wounded stag
Who seeks refuge on the mountain

I grow a white rose
In July just as in January
For the honest friend
Who gives me his open hand

With the poor people of the earth
I want to cast my lot
The brook of the mountains
Gives me more pleasure than the sea
