@Letty,
Happy Birthday Sinead.
Have you listened to her brother Joseph, He's King of the Blarney over here at the moment. Great orator & novelist.

edgar, Thanks again for your comments on what we play here.

Hey, Irish. Love both of those fantastic poems. How beautiful, but how sad.

Yikes. I remember my Irish friend talking about the banshee.

My favorite of all Irish songs.

Motown legend ARETHA FRANKLIN is battling pancreatic cancer, family members have confirmed.

The cancer has only a 5 to 10 percent overall survival rate - according to medical experts.

@edgarblythe,
That's really sad to hear.
Lets hope the Queen of Soul makes it. A great woman.

The country might be busted, BUT we still have our spirit, our humour, each other and great kids to carry us forward.
Ireland down but not out. Tiocfaidh ar la.

Incidentally the singer is Bic Runga, a Kiwi, lovely voice.
And off course The Pogues & the late Kirsty MacColl.

Busy day tomorrow so I'll say good night & best wishes to you all'

edgar, I love The Coat of Many Colors by Dolly, and Aretha's pancreatic cancer is terrible news.

Goodnight, Irish. Thanks for all of your Irish songs. Let's hope the economy improves everywhere.

Today is Maximillian Schell's birthday. It is a shame that he is so under rated. I saw many of his movies, but alas cannot recall him.

A brief bit of info.

Maximilian Schell (born 8 December 1930) is a Swiss actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Judgment at Nuremberg in 1961. He is also a writer, director and producer of several films.

A tribute

@edgarblythe,
ah, edgar. I was going to play Jolly Old Saint Nicholas as a tribute to your avatar, but decided against it. Razz

Don't know Mira Billotte, but the song As I Went Out One Morning was lovely.
Thanks for the introduction.

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I shall do so with Sergio.
