edgar, Dead Flowers by Townes was sad. Thanks for playing it, however.

Hey, Irish. Your photo's are once again fabulous. What kind of dog is Jasmine?

Thanks again.

Here's Lady Day singing about violets.

@eurocelticyankee,
I thought as much about that lovely, fluffy dog. Yes, Irish, a real beauty. Glad that you liked Billie Holiday. What a sad life that talented lady lived.

Well, here's one to your snowman.

@eurocelticyankee,
Thank you. I first learned about Billie from my husband who was a jazz musician.

Here is the trailer on the movie starring Diana Ross.

@eurocelticyankee,
Goodnight, Irish. Sleep well on your bed of shamrock.

Time for me to say goodnight as well, and I think that I shall do so with two songs. First, a birthday man.

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings - Let Them Knock.

Let them knock upon my door
Until they their hands are black and blue
I'm not answering for no one
Until my man and I are through

When we're makin' love
You know the world ain't got nothing, oh nothin' to do
Cos when we're makin' love
I don't answer to nobody but you

No, nobody but you babe
Not gonna answer to nobody, no, no

They can call me on the phone
But no matter how times that phone rings, baby
I'm not pickin' up for no one
Until that fat lady sings

When we're makin' love
Now you know the world ain't got nothing, oh! nothing on you
When we're making love
I won't answer to nobody but you

Oh, no

Listen now
People, they ask a lot of me
Alway want more than they got of me yeah
Let them say I'm hard to find
I know what I've got to do
And bring our loving all home to you
It's your love I got on my mind

Let them wait, let them wonder
Where I go and what I do - yeah yeah
I'm not answering to no one
Until my man and I are through

When we're makin' love
You know the world ain't got nothin, oh nothin' to do
When we're makin' love
I won't answer to nobody but you

Nobody but but you

Nobody but you
I ain't gonna answer to nobody but you baby
Oh no matter how many time the phone rings or who's knockin' at the door
I'm not gonna answer, no, no, no, no, no
I ain't gonna answer no, no, no
Ain't gonna pick up the phone, don't even try
No, no, nobody, nobody, nobody
but you....

Sorry for the Hamster backslash tinkering.

@Barry The Mod,
Good morning from Florida, Brit. Love that soul/funk music by Sharon and the Daps. Don't know her, but I hear her knocking. Razz

Hope our edgar hurries back.

Two early morning songs, y'all.

First, Buddy Holly

Good morning. Hi ho hi ho, and all that rot. I will be home at the usual time, today, but will be away late in the day. Its the annual company party. Being frank about it, I would not go were it not for the door prizes. Some people leave with trips to Vegas, computers and such. Its worth a shot.

Just saw your post, letty. Bobby Darin wrote the Buddy Holly tune. Bobby recorded it under the name, The Rinkydinks.

Letty, do you still do celebrity birthdays on WA2K?

Today is the birthday of a character actor you have probably seen but did not know the name of, Steven Culp. Best known for playing Rex Van de Kamp on Desperate Housewives (I know this actor from him appearing on Star Trek: Enterprise).

The guy also played Robert Kennedy a coupla times:

@jespah,
Welcome back, jes. Don't know Steven Culp, but a warm Happy Birthday to the man. (RIP Robert)

Did Steven do The Traveler? Hope so!

@Letty,
Yep! Also did JAG (he is the guy in the hospital bed). No relation to Robert Culp, apparently.

Thanks to our edgar for the info on that song by Buddy Holly.

Thanks, Jes, for further portrayals of Stephen. I vaguely remember Jag. Need to do more research.

Francis, that song by Hem was lovely, but rather sad. Here's info on that group, buddy.

Hem is an indie folk-rock band from New York City, United States. Band members include Sally Ellyson (vocals), Dan Messé (piano, accordion, glockenspiel), Gary Maurer (guitar, mandolin), Steve Curtis (guitar, mandolin, banjo, back-up vocals), George Rush (bass guitar), Mark Brotter (drums), Bob Hoffnar (pedal steel guitar), and Heather Zimmerman (violin).

Well, I don't know about the rest of our contributors, but I'm Still Holding My Own.

@dyslexia,
Welcome back, cowboy. Love that song. The end of the movie is the most powerful part. Hope you're not still having problems with your oxygen tubing. There is such a thing as too much oxygen, ya know

One for you.
