@Letty,
That space music seems familiar, but I can't be certain I have heard it. I saw The Red Planet on TV yesterday and have space on the brain.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Leontyne Price is fabulous. Her Moon Song demonstrates her talent. Found out that Paul Robeson helped her, too. Amazing how people can rise above their environment to become no. 1. (everyone gets spaced out once in a while incidentally)

Swimpy was searching for something by one of her French ancestors, and I thought of this fellow.

Prosper Merimee wrote the novella that inspired this opera by Bizet.

still smile when I think of my friend Al who had a worker who called a bidet a bizet.

We had a great programme on our TV about Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

Herb's quite a guy, jazz trumpeter, pop star, composer, producer, record company mogul, then sculptor and painter.
A fascinating programme.
Astonishingly to me, because I always assumed he was Mexicano, his parents were Jewish Russian emigrees.

Here is my favorite by Herb Alpert.

I like that, letty. I don't read up on opera, but I know what I like when I hear it.

@McTag,
Welcome back, McTag. That a shocker to me as well. I am continually amazed at how much Russian Jewish immigrants have contributed to our music. Thanks for the reminder.

Perhaps this is why we think of Herb as Hispanic.

Having been born in California may have had some influence there.

Oops, our space man got in here first.

Love that one by Joan Baez, edgar. I guess there's a child inside of all of us.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I know that one and don't know why I know it. Great, Texas. Used to be that way in high school. Wonder if it still is?

Here's a funny one to match.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with this beautiful hymn by Cardinal Newman.

It may have been one that was played as the Titanic sank.

Glad to have the Brits with us today.

From Letty with love to all

Good morning, WA2K folks.

Well, our Brit is down and gone, but when our Izzie listed all those names, I thought that she meant they were all birthday boys.

edgar, loved your goodnight song "Where the Cowboys Go" by Jim Cave. Don't know him, but thanks for the introduction and the comments.

Hmmm, Jimmy Buffett wouldn't play here. One too many Margaritas?

Yep, I'm with edgar. Loved Teardrops from my Eyes, and that inchworm was fabulous. Danny Kaye was one great performer. "seems to me they'd stop and see how beautiful they are."

Also, thanks for the explanation about Fireball XL Five.

Hurry back, edgar and Barry.

Here's one by the great Quincy Jones, folks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtHrQKHmKEM&feature=related

He did the theme for Sanford and Son. I think it was called Stepto and Son across the pond.
