That's a better than normal song for Julie, letty. Quite nice, actually.

@edgarblythe,
Goodnight, edgar and good morning WA2K folks. Love that one by The Platters, buddy. Strange, there is no twilight here and I miss that time of evening.

I never cared for The Sound of Music, Texas. That's the only song that I liked from the score.

Easy to be Hard?

@Letty,
Three Dog Night's version of that song is a good one too.
I had watched an old black and white film that told the same story as Sound of Music. Felt no desire to see the Julie Andrews version. Still feel that way. I think Julie is a marvelous performer, but not in every situation.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, Donovan tells it like it is. His Universal Soldier covers it all. Thanks for that one, Texas.

From the news desk, folks.

Outspoken musician John Mellencamp, a fierce critic of the music industry, condemned the Internet at the Grammy Museum on Tuesday, saying, "I think the Internet is the most dangerous thing invented since the atomic bomb. It's destroyed the music business. It's going to destroy the movie business."

Reuters writes that Mellencamp added that "some smart people, the China-Russians or something" stand to conquer the US by hacking the nation's infrastructure.

Another personal oddity. I just found an outfit that I bought from India Bazaar when I was at UVA. I even had elephant bells then, too. Still have a sari around here somewhere.

@Letty,
Well, we could hack their infrastructure in return, couldn't we? To me, the internet could bring the people of the world closer in understanding and tolerance, given the time and freedom. There is too much censoring of free speech in some quarters. The net is much like rock n roll. Too revolutionary to be ignored.

@edgarblythe,
Your remark about the internet reminds me of the short story Quality by John Galsworthy. The boot maker starved to death rather than succumb to the rapid manufacturing of such, intimating that quality was far better than quantity.

Today is Robert Plant's birthday and here is a song by him that I never understood. Don't know what the lyrics implied.

@Rockhead,
So it is, Rockymoose. I had to smile at the lyrics. Yep, we might call that one more up front, so to speak. Thanks, Kansas. I like it.

Today is Isaac Hayes' birthday, and although he may be better know for his theme to Shaft, I like this one.

I don't know much about Robert Plant. He sounds good, but I couldn't follow the lyrics.
I saw Isaac Hayes in the Astrodome one year. He was hosting Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue. Got a good impression of him, but he didn't make any music that day.
Chuck Willis from the late 1950s.

@edgarblythe,
That was absolutely beautiful, edgar Rock and Roll lullaby and the wonderful visuals that reflect B.J. cannot be described in words. Thanks, buddy.

Today is Jim Reeves' birthday, so here is a tribute to him in words and music.

Hope our edgar doesn't still have a ghost in his machine.

I have an SOS here for the artists on A2K. I love this ballad, but cannot identify all the "sad young men"

And this shall be my goodnight song.
