Good morning WA2K. Nother heat advisory day. See y'all later.

I mean that Whitman walked about selling his book, because he did not have a publisher promoting it. He probably sold more books than me so far, doing that.

Daisy Plumtree is a name I snatched from the air when I thought to do those lyrics. None of it is based in fact.

Wow! Those lyrics were awesome, edgar. I had no idea that you wrote them nor did I know that Whitman went from door to door selling his book. Need to do more research on that one.

Ah, Iz. Love that version of I Will Always Love you by Whitney. Guess what. edgar told me that Dolly Parton wrote that for Porter Wagoner. Love to learn here.

Introducing a new birthday boy. (to me, at least)

Juanes and here is his song replete with lyrics in English.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61VvijNy2oU&feature=related

English version.

Today it is a normal day
but I will make it intense/special
today the sun could turn off
but not the light in my soul
in a day like today
i’ll walk slower
i’ll defend my truth
i’ll wrap you in my arms
in a day like today
because you never know what you have
until you lose it
sadly never to return
it’s not important where you are
from here I will kiss you in my dreams
my blood aches for you
until i’ll lose myself in your body
in a day like today
i’ll walk slower
i’ll defend my truth
i’ll wrap you in my arms
in a day like today
because
you never know what you have until you lose it
lamentably
never to come back

Hello! I'm checking in quickly to leave something German.... Not from a German band, though! I missed the Hooters on their tour through Germany but here is something for all of us...

That Jaunez(sp) song has good lyrics, letty.

This Girl

In love she strikes like venom
This girl she walks like denim
Rapt and strong
When winds blow wrong
She’s got to be the rose in winter

She wraps her grace around me
I thank heaven she’s found me
I watch her face
There’s not a trace
Of phoniness and fake boundaries

When the night is unwinding
The moon just lamely lining
If she don’t sleep
The stars grow weak
Throwing shadows at her shining

I dearly love to see her
I truly love to be there
When wolves that growl
Must face her smile
Then retreat most ungraciously

edgar, thanks again for your comments one what we play here. I know that "..the girl..." must be another of your songs. I love it Texas.

Welcome back, Brit. Really enjoyed The Neville Brothers' Sitting here in Limbo. I'm certain that everything will work out for your trip, buddy.

I still cannot find the original lyrics to this lovely Song of India, but this instrumental is fantastic without them. Hope Prince Gautam is all right.

There's a "gathering storm" here. (nope, not quoting Winston Churchill) and I find it is time for me to say goodnight.

For those of you who are aware that edgar's sound quality is not working; please put the lyrics with your songs. He'll know this one, because it's by "gentleman" Jim.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waKGa6_YCGY&feature=related

The lyrics:

Dark moon a way up high up in the sky
Oh tell me why oh tell me why you've lost your splendor
Dark moon what is the cause your light withdraws
Is it because is because I've lost my love
Mortals have dreams of love's perfect schemes
But they don't realize that love can sometimes bring
Dark moon a way up high

From Letty with love for everyone

Spanish Leather

Oh I'm sailin away my own true love
I'm sailin away in the mornin
Is there somethin I can send you from across the sea
From the place that I'll be landin

Oh there's nothing you can send me my own true love
There's nothin I'm wishin to be ownin
Just carry yourself back to me unspoiled
From across that lonesome ocean

Oh but i just though you might want somethin fine
Made of silver or of golden
Either from the mountains of Madrid
Or from the coast of Barcelona

Oh but if I had the stars from the darkest night
Or the diamonds from the deepest ocean
I'd forsake them all for your sweet kiss
For that's all that I'm wishin to be ownin

Ah but I might be gone a long old time
And it's only that I'm askin
Is there somethin I can send you to remember me by
To make your time more easy passin

Oh how can how can you ask me again
If it only brings me sorrow
The same thing I would want from you today
I would want again tomorrow

I got a letter on a lonesome day
It was from her ship a sailin
Sayin I don't know when I'll be comin back again
It depends on how I'm a feelin

Well if you my love must think that a way
I'm sure your mind is roamin
I'm sure your thoughts are not with me
What with the country to where you're goin

So take heed take heed of the western wind
Take heed of the stormy weather
And yes there's something you can send back to me
Spanish boots of Spanish leather

Steve Winwood - Dirty City

The gangster came to see my boy
When I was working nights to pay one more bill
He promised the kid a sweeter life
Said, "Gotta understand it's dog eat dog out there"
Well I looked in his room when I got home
And underneath the covers found a loaded gun
He looked at me with empty eyes
He said, "It's time for me to be moving on"

Dirty city, this is a dirty town
Where's the pity, I can't move on up to higher ground

I spoke to my woman the other day
She said, "I need more cash we can't pay our way"
She said, "Everything gets really hard
And I need something sweet, don't you understand?
The roar of the train runs by my room
And on these summer nights I can't sleep anymore
I walk in the streets to greet the dawn
Or stay at home all night and stare at the floor

Dirty city, this is a dirty town
Where's the pity, I can't move on up to higher ground
Dirty city, this is a dirty town
Where's the pity, I can't move on up to higher ground

Help me now
Move on to a higher ground
Help somehow
Make a move to a higher ground
Won't you help somehow
Make a move to a higher ground
Won't you help somehow
I need a little help...

Dirty city, this is a dirty town
Where's the pity, I can't move on up to higher ground
Dirty city, this is a dirty town
Where's the pity, I can't move on up to higher ground
Dirty city, this is a dirty town
Where's the pity, I can't move on up to higher ground
Dirty city, this is a dirty town
Where's the pity, I can't move on up to higher ground....

Herbie Hancock' s version of a Peter Gabriel song....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVQxSFG-ahk
Herbie Hancock - Don't give up (feat. P!nk and John Legend)

In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose

Don't give up
'cos you have friends
Don't give up
You're not beaten yet
Don't give up
I know you can make it good

Though I saw it all around
Never thought I could be affected
Thought that we'd be the last to go
It is so strange the way things turn

Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground

Don't give up
You still have us
Don't give up
We don't need much of anything
Don't give up
'cause somewhere there's a place
Where we belong

Rest your head
You worry too much
It's going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Don't give up
Please don't give up

'got to walk out of here
I can't take anymore
Going to stand on that bridge
Keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
And whatever may go
That river's flowing
That river's flowing

Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs

Don't give up
'cause you have friends
Don't give up
You're not the only one
Don't give up
No reason to be ashamed
Don't give up
You still have us
Don't give up now
We're proud of who you are
Don't give up
You know it's never been easy
Don't give up
No matter what you do
Don't give up
'cause I believe there's a place
There's a place where we belong

Don't give up............

Good early morning (for me, anyway) WA2K folks.

edgar, That's Boots of Spanish Leather lyrics is a Bob Dylan song. Thanks, buddy.

Hey, Brit. Really enjoyed Dirty City; Mama He Treats Your daughter Mean, and especially Herbie Hancock's Don't Give Up. Love him.

Mooseman, welcome back. Don't know Pot Belly nor the song Freshly Ground, but thanks for the introduction.

Two songs for the morning, y'all.

First, a birthday boy that I really love. Here's Ian Anderson(Jethro Tull) in London.

edgar, this is a Bach Bouree, so there are no lyrics. Sorry Texas.

And from Antonio a fantastic song. If we observe the comments; the English lyrics are among the first.

Morning Letty and WA2Krew

rain rain rain rain rain ... grumpy weather we have here.

I'm kinda flitting around right now at a bit of a loose end, not up to much - anyhoo - MzOlga played a toon on the nighty night thread and here's another from Poets of the Fall

Dawn

<love the photos in this video - love them>

When darkness is no less than everything you've built become undone
There's no fight and no flight, disaster leaves your passion overrun

It's time to let go, it's time to carry on with the show
don't mourn what is gone, greet the dawn

n' I will be standing by your side
together we'll face the turning tide

Remembrance, can be a sentence, but it comes to you with a second chance in tow
Don't lose it, don't refuse it, cos you cannot learn a thing you think you know

A new light is warm, shining down on you after the storm
Don't mourn what is gone, greet the dawn

n' I will be standing by your side
together we'll face the turning tide
