Don't know Robert Cray, but I like him, letty. Lou Reed has made a few recordings I like.
The poster of this song claims Frankie Laine wrote it just for Marty.

I cannot find the Blackwater Boys or Arizona Smoke Revue.
But it seems I may have found the originals which may be better for a concerns.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I do know This Time You Gave Me a Mountain. Amazing that Frankie may have written it for Marty. I realize that "mountain" is a metaphor for despair, etc. just as "a sea of trouble" is. Thanks, Texas.

Bonnie Tyler has lasted a long time with her razor blade-gargle voice. Oddly, I like her singing very much.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I love that song, but I don't know Lou Christie. Here's a jazz version of it, but only instrumental. See what you think.

It was good, letty. I was tempted to play the Johnny Mathis version. I am unfamiliar with the artists you found.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I didn't know that one by Elvis. Thanks for the introduction from "the king".

Fantastic one by Nancy Sinatra, buddy. Had no idea that she sang that one from the Jame Bond movie, and no one will ever replace Sean Connery as the best Bond.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think I shall do so with Van Morrison. This one by him is awesome, y'all.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

Hey, Brit. Love that one by Nancy and Ramsey. Never heard Peel Me a Grape, however.

edgar, I recall Charles Boyer playing that one in the movie Gaslight. Thanks for the reminder. When I saw that one on TCM, I found it to be rather boring.

Three songs for this morning, folks.

First Nancy with one of my favorites by her.

lyrics to Wade in the Water.

Wade in the water.
Wade in the water, children.
Wade in the water.
God's gonna trouble the water.

Well, who are these children all dressed in red?
God's a-gonna trouble the water
Must be the children that Moses led
God's a-gonna trouble the water.

Chorus

Who's that young girl dressed in white
Wade in the Water
Must be the Children of Israelites
God's gonna trouble the Water.

Chorus

Jordan's water is chilly and cold.
God's gonna trouble the water.
It chills the body, but not the soul.
God's gonna trouble the water.

Chorus

If you get there before I do.
God's gonna trouble the water.
Tell all of my friends I'm coming too.
God's gonna trouble the water.

Chorus

@Rockhead,
That song touched my heart, mooseman. I opened my blinds to find a butterfly barely moving. I picked it up an put it outside, but as I watched, it died.

My neighbors across the street, one of whom works for the ASPCA, asked me if I would like to be a foster care parent for abused animals. I knew that I couldn't and they understood. More synchronicity?

Thanks for Nancy, Ramsey and Peter, letty. Speaking of Peter, I slept through Lawrence of Arabia two times. Tried reading Seven Pillars of Wisdom (TE Lawrence) and gave up.
Butterflies is a quiet one. Nice.

@edgarblythe,
I'll Sail Away by Styx is lovely, edgar, and thanks again for your comments. I never think of Styx that I don't remember Charon. Yikes!

The only thing that I remember about T.E. Lawrence is that he may have been assassinated as was George Patton. Hey, just because they're conspiracy theories doesn't mean they're NOT true, right?

The Atlantic Ocean was beautiful today. Faintly green and trimmed in white surf as white sailing vessels lined the horizon. <sigh>

An answer from George about sailing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3QSqskdxwg&feature=related

Just found out that the song was originally done by dear Hank Williams.

I'LL SAIL MY SHIP ALONE
Recorded by: Moon Mullican
Writers: Moon Mullican, Henry Bernard, Henry Thurston,
Lois Mann, & Morry Burns

[D] We've been sweethearts for so long
But now you say, "We're [G] thru!"
The [A7] love we shared is now a memo-[D] ry
I had built a ship of dreams
And planned them all for [G] you
And [A7] now I guess what is to be will [D] be.

CHORUS
[D] I'll sail my ship alone
With [A7] all the dreams I own
Drifting out across the ocean [D] blue
I'll sail my ship alone
Tho' [A7] all the sails, you've torn
And when it starts to sink, then I'll blame [D] you.

I'm just like a ship at sea
That's lost without a sail
The dark clouds hide the sun from up above
And even with these broken dreams
My heart will never fail
For deep inside there's only one true love.

CHORUS

I gave a message to the wind
To take back home to you
Hopin' you would hear my S.O.S.
Maybe you would come back home
My darling, if you knew
How much my aching heart is in distress.

CHORUS
