@edgarblythe,
Poor Michael; Poor Karen. edgar, strangely I do not know that one by Karen. Fantastic visuals, Texas, and it reminded my of the last verse to The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.

Farewell, farewell! but this I tell
To thee, thou Wedding-Guest!
He prayeth well, who loveth well
Both man and bird and beast.

He prayeth best, who loveth best
All things both great and small;
For the dear God who loveth us,
He made and loveth all."

The Mariner, whose eye is bright,
Whose beard with age is hoar,
Is gone; and now the Wedding-Guest
Turned from the bridegroom's door.

He went like one that hath been stunned,
And is of sense forlorn:
A sadder and a wiser man
He rose the morrow morn.

Hey, Let's not forget the mamas who did all the laboring. Smile

@edgarblythe,
Hurry back, edgar.

I've been doing a lot of research today, folks, and found one birthday girl that most of us know, but the second one is a surprise to me.

Here's a bit of info on both ladies.

Alison Krauss (born July 23, 1971) is an American bluegrass-country singer, songwriter and fiddler. She entered the music industry at an early age, winning local contests by the age of ten and recording for the first time at fourteen. She signed with Rounder Records in 1985 and released her first solo album in 1987. She was invited to join the band with which she still performs, Alison Krauss and Union Station (AKUS), and later released her first album with them as a group in 1989.

She has released eleven albums, appeared on numerous soundtracks, and helped renew interest in bluegrass music in the United States. Her soundtrack performances have led to further popularity, including the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, an album also credited with raising American interest in bluegrass, and the Cold Mountain soundtrack, which led to her performance at the 2004 Academy Awards. During her career she has won 26 Grammy Awards, making her the most awarded female artist (and the third most awarded artist overall) in Grammy history

Amália da Piedade Rodrigues, GCSE, GCIH, (July 23, 1920 – October 6, 1999), also known as Amália Rodrigues (Portuguese pronunciation was a Portuguese singer and actress. Despite official documents which give her date of birth as July 23, Rodrigues always said her birthday was July 1, 1920 [1]. She was born in Lisbon, in the rua Martim Vaz (Martim Vaz Street), neighborhood of Pena. Her father was a trumpet player and cobbler from Fundão who returned there when Amália was just over a year old, leaving her to live in Lisbon with her maternal grandmother in a deeply Catholic environment until she was 14, when her parents returned to the capital and she moved back in with them

She was known as the queen of fado which is a sad Portuguese folk song.

First Alison.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by The Kingston Trio, edgar. Incidentally, thanks for the comments.

I had never heard of Amalia before, and I agree her voice sounded rusty on that song that I played. Perhaps you can find a better one.

It is sooooo hot here and not one drop of rain. So, here is my rain dance.

That Amalia song is very nice also. That rain dance won't help us this week end. It is supposed to be pretty nice weather here.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know that one by The Band, edgar. My word, they're Canucks. Smile

Thanks again for your comments and for keeping us on the air.

Well, Today is Vincent Van Gogh's birthday. Remember Lust for Life, Texas. That came on AMC one night and starred Kirk Douglas as Vincent.

Guess what I'm gonna play.

Well, Let's hope that Bonnie Lies over the Ocean and away from us.

OOPS, Missed Ed Ames again. Cannot believe that man sang such wonderful songs

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Ed Ames, edgar. My Cup Runneth Over With Love is excellent.

I read the book Lust for Life as a kid. It was by Irving Stone. Here's the trailer of the movie.

@edgarblythe,
Strange, edgar, I did most of my heavy reading as a kid. If I could say I lived my life in stages, the earliest that I can remember was my dolls and my books.

This attempts to explain Van Gogh's problems.

@edgarblythe,
Oops, missed your Harry's Jewish song. Back later to listen again.

In the meantime, don't you think you should be practicing your "rap" music? Smile

Ice T of Special Victim's Unit was a rapper, and got in trouble recently with the police. As Wyton Marsalis noted. Rap is modern day minstrel.
