Good Morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, Loved your goodnight song. White Lightning? George knows what it takes to sleep. Smile

Welcome back, Brit. Thanks for the info concerning that fabulous sax guy and Chick. Once again, you inform us concerning Light Years.

Great original by the cast of The Lion King.

Ah, Ronnie Milsap. Loved the metaphor. Yep, the piano can be a real feel thing. Now, We Can Work it Out was great by the wonder man.

See ya later, alligator/edgar. Smile

Two songs for the morning, y'all.

First, Oscar.

Now, a birthday boy. We'll dedicate this to all our Irish friends on A2K.

I like Oscar Peterson's style.
Michael Flatley is very good also.
Connie Stevens has come into the studio this afternoon. She has sixteen reasons to tell us about.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for the comments, edgar. My word Connie Stevens was married to Eddie Fisher? Who wasn't. Still like his voice, however.

Here's an answer to Sixteen Reasons, Texas.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! That's a great one by Johnny, edgar. I know it, too. Just found out he drowned after his boat collided with a bigger one. Everyone needs to learn how to swim, seriously.

I graduated at sixteen.

So, the magic number for today is SIXTEEN.

Here's a different version of Sixteen Tons, y'all.

@Letty,
Hey Letty, Edgar, Baz, Panz et WA2K

here's anothere Sixteen...

Sixteen seems so young, seems so far away, but she's more beautiful, she's more beautiful with every passing day.
Shut your eyes and think back to the time taking your first steps, speaking the first words of your life, then you went to school and learned about this world
Those years went by so fast but slowly, he whispers in her ear so softly

Days go by slowly, slowly drifting down, sixteen she's still growing, beauty like the color of the leaves, changing with the seasons, slowly passing by, beautiful colors, all wrapped up inside her mind

Shut your eyes and think back to jr high, making friends and finding yourself, love, fighting, drama, and pain
boys and girls all wrapped up in love, it's time to move on to your high school days

And he said, days go by slowly, slowly drifting down, sixteen she's still growing, beauty like the color of the leaves, changing with the seasons, slowly passing by, beautiful colors, all wrapped up inside her mind

On this day and for the rest of your life, I hope this light will guide you
and if you ever get lost back in those days, I'll travel miles to find you
and if you ever think back on this day, I hope you'll find it lovely, for I'll always say for the rest of your days

Days go by slowly, slowly drifting down, sixteen she's still growing, beauty like the color of the leaves, changing with the seasons, slowly passing by, beautiful colors, all wrapped up inside her mind

Her mind, all wrapped up inside her mind

@Izzie,
Izzie, Welcome back. Loved that one by Johnny Strat, and the lyrics were fantastic. "...her mind; all wrapped up inside her mind..."

Thanks for the introduction, hun.

Oops, Letty thought that you and your friends were going to London (no, not to visit the queen) but to hear a reunion of the cast of Les Miserables with Barry the Brit.

Well, how about sixteen divided by two. Smile

Here's an octet doing a classic.

I recall having failed my test on the multiplication tables when I was in the fourth grade. When my mom saw the bad mark, all she did was frown and look at me. No words were needed. I then promptly memorized them, and got an A. Everything was done by rote when I was in grade school.

@Izzie,
Wow! Don't know Chris LeDoux, Izzie, but that Eight Second Ride was great. Someone commented that they should put this song on the radio, and you just did. Smile

News from the world of archaeology. The old Globe theater was discovered recently.

It seems that it is being restored, so I guess we had better listen to these guys.

Moving over to the food News Desk....
http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af138/barrythemod/To%20Forward/summer-cheeries.jpg
Here in the UK,July 17th is National Cherry Day and in the world of greengrocers things are hotting up nicely.In the red corner is the British cherry supported by the Cherry Aid campaign,while in the other corner is the Picota cherry - an elite cherry grown in the Jerte valley to the south west of Madrid (that's in Spain).This year,the Picota season is running a couple of weeks late so the Spanish cherries will be going head to head with their English counterparts for longer.Somewhat disconcertingly,the Picotas come without stalks (so you can't hang them over your ears or other appendages) and although they are very delicious,English cherries are less traveled,fresher and juicier.

Good morning, WA2K radio folks

dj, Rap? Somehow that surprises me. Listened to both of your songs twice. Of the Soul was good, and I smiled at that pot hole song. I don't usually forward messages, but that one was too good to delete. Smile

Hey, Brit. I'm with Kate Rusby on The Village Green Preservation. Odd I had strawberry preserves on my toast this early morning. It's not that we want to live in the past; we just want to preserve it, and that's as it should be.

Love Play That Funky Music White Boy.

An early morning song by Marty, y'all.

Oops, The Brit is down and gone so he won't know that I missed his last song. Smile

We called them bing cherries. (no, not Crosby)

Smiled at a memory of my father when I asked him what "Know Thyself" meant. His observation was, "When you do, you had better have a damn good sense of humor."

Good morning. My grandson will be out of here later this morning. Right now, He's sleeping.

I was not familiar with Brush Your Shakespeare. Chuck Berry is a perennial favorite with me, of course.
