@edgarblythe,
One cannot measure creativity, edgar. Intellect has nothing to do with it.

Love America the Beautiful by Babs. Thanks for playing it.

Once, long ago on another forum I told Langston Hughes that the underdog was a vanishing species.

Let THAT America be America again.

The Star Spangled Banner should have remained a poem. I do believe the melody was from an old English drinking song.

The Star Spangled Banner does not inspire me nearly as much as several other songs that are deemed 'patriotic.' I get the message with Underdog.

@edgarblythe,
Great one by Chuck Berry, edgar. Just found out that he was born in St. Louis, Missouri. More synchronicity, cause AMC also featured Judy Garland movies last evening. (Been to Norfolk, Va. Don't like it, Chuck; it ain't the promised land)

Wow! what a surprise to find this, y'all.

I have been in St Louis. Not enough to say I know the place.
I love Judy Garland doing that song.

@edgarblythe,
Love that Missouri State song, edgar. Didn't Harry Truman play that on his grand piano?

Hmmm. Let's see if this works, y'all

Hush-a-bye ma baby, slumber time is comin' soon.
Rest yo head upon my breast, while mommy hums a tune.
The sandman is calling, where shadows are falling,
While the soft breezes sigh as in days long gone by.

'Way down in Missouri where I heard this melody,
When I was a little child on my mommy's knee.
The old folks were hummin',
Their banjos were strummin',
So sweet and low.

Strum, strum, strum, strum, strum,
Seems I hear those banjos playing once again,
Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum,
That same old plaintive strain.

Hear that mournful melody,
It just haunts you the whole day long.
And you wander in dreams,
Back to Dixie it seems
When you hear that old song.

The Virginia State Song omits the lyrics. They didn't make it politically correct as Missouri did. Smile

That's a good state song also, letty. Moving on to Amarillo now.

@edgarblythe,
Love George and Amarillo by Morning, edgar.

Might as well do West Virginia, y'all, but there are no lyrics and the motto is "Montani Semper Liberi Mountaineers are always free.

Virginia's motto: Sic Semper tyrannis: thus always to tyrants.

Like John Denver's version better.

@edgarblythe,
Great one by Roy Orbison, edgar. California Blue. Never heard it, but more synchronicity cause this birthday boy (don't know him either) was born in California.

Stephen Boyd died of a heart attack at forty five.

I loved to watch for Stephen Boyd in the costume dramas, such as Ben Hur. Not a great actor, but he did all right.

edgar, ah, I remember Urban Cowboy, and John doing that dancing was fabulous.

Jerry Butler's song He will Break Your Heart is another goodie, Texas.

It was good to have London and Paris with us today on WA2K. Who knows; maybe tomorrow Canada.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with Billy Joel.

Your comments about what we play here are always wonderful, edgar.

As always,
