Wow! Had the AC on too high and I got too cool, edgar. Loved your Hurdy Gurdy song by Donovan

Hey, Brit. Who's that Lady by the Isley Brothers was fantastic, and Kate Webster's Two Fisten Mama was delightful.

What a nice thing to do, London. Been a while since I have had a dedication. Thanks.

Francis, Welcome back again. Lucio Dalla's Caruso and Barry's translation were beautiful. Ah, the Italian in all of us.

The English translation reminded me of this one. I am not certain that my English lyrics are the right ones. What a beautiful and unusual instrumental.

Sunlight dances on the sea.

Tender thoughts occur to me.

I have often seen your eyes

In the nighttime, when I dream.

When I pass a garden fair,

And the scent is in the air

In my mind a dream awakes,

And my heart begins to break.

But you said good-bye to me.

Now all I can do is grieve.

Can it be that you forgot?

Darling, forget me not!

Please don’t say farewell

And leave this heart that’s broken.

Come back to Sorrento,

So I can mend

Francis

@Letty,
Here's my preferred English version:

Hear the music of the waters

Bells of tender passion sighing

Like thy heart to which go flying

All my thoughts in wakefull dream

See the lovely dewy garden

Breathing orange perfumed greetings

Nought can set my heart a-beating

Like the fragrance of its bloom

Now I hear that thou must leave me

Thou and I will soon be parted

Canst thou leave me broken hearted?

Wilst thou never more return?

Then say not “goodbye”

Come back again, beloved

Back to Sorrento, or I must die.

A variation of the last stanza:

Then say not “goodbye”

Don't give me such a torment

Come back to Sorrento, or I will die.

I like this version by Dean Martin, too..

Once upon a lovely time

Many million dreams ago

Once there was a man in love dear

Many million dreams ago

Once he thought he had a sweetheart

Then he broke the golden rule

Never take your love for granted

Wise men often play the fool

Now he'd like to say I'm sorry

Can't you see within his heart

Without you there's no tomorrow

Why should true love have to part

Take me in your arms

I promise to be true

Never again I'll stray

Away from you

@Francis,
I knew there was a reason that our welcome back was quite sincere. Marvelous alternatives, Francis, and Dino was better than I remember.

Loved the visuals on Besame Mucho.

Let's not forget that woman is fickle, however. Smile

Caruso cannot be equaled, methinks.

This guy doesn't sound like Caruso, but you can't have everything -

@edgarblythe,
George Jones is fabulous on that one, edgar. His slipping into that deep bass sound makes him a Caruso in his own genre. Hmmm. Which car was it that was supposedly unsafe at any speed?

Inspired by Mark Noble's discussion about "nowhere" here is one by The Fab Four.

It was the Chevvy Corvair - Unsafe at Any Speed. I can attest that they were pretty unstable. My brother Roger had a 68 model. A good cross wind could send it across the lanes without notice.

When I hear Nowhere Man, I immediately think of two other songs that were recorded at nearly the same time.
The Ballad of a Thin Man is one. The other is Donovan's Epistle to Dippy.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the reminder, edgar. Ralph Nader wrote that book.

Loved Dylan's Ballad of The Thin Man. That was one of his best and is a bit of philosophy on people and the times.

You missed the animated Hurdy Gurdy man, Texas, and I got a song stuck in my head.

Here it is, y'all.

Don't know why I know that one, either.

Was gonna play the tin man, but decided against it.Smile

@edgarblythe,
That one by Donovan was perplexing, edgar, but good. It may have referred to some sort of odd medication, according to the comments. Really liked it, however.

Remember Ken Curtis, Texas?

Today is his birthday, y'all.

Ken was so much more than the Festus character of Gunsmoke. I have been following him most of my life. (He appeared in an early episode of Gunsmoke, long before Festus was invented. He played a Texas cowboy who became close friends with Chester. Rather sad his cowboy character had to die).

@edgarblythe,
Ken can really sing, edgar, no doubt about that.

Don't know The Dubs, but I like the song and those great animal visuals. Thanks, buddy.

Don't know this birthday girl, but here is some info on her.

Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch Landau (born July 2, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist.

During the early 2000s, she released two top-selling albums, The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper, and was subsequently nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2003. In 2005, she formed the country music duo The Wreckers with friend and fellow musician Jessica Harp, and produced the Grammy-nominated single "Leave the Pieces." However, The Wreckers disbanded in 2007 to pursue their respective solo careers. As of 2009, Branch has been working on a new album, entitled Everything Comes and Goes, though no release date has yet been set.

She's is pretty good. (ah, the game of love)

It felt like springtime on this February morning
In the courtyard birds were singing your praise
I'm still recalling things you said to make me feel alright
I carried them with me today, Now

(chorus) As I lay me down to sleep
This I pray
That you will hold me dear
Though I'm far away
I'll whisper your name into the sky
And I will wake up happy

I wonder why I feel so high
Though I am not above the sorrow
Heavy hearted
Till you call my name
And it sounds like church bells
Or the whistle of a train
On a summer evening
I'll run to meet you
Barefoot barely breathing

(repeat chorus)

It's not too near for me
Like a flower I need the rain
Though it's not clear to me
Every season has its change
And I will see you
When the sun comes out again

These people formed a group to back up Harry Belafonte, but went on to perform on their own.
