@edgarblythe,
edgar, I love Kris, but I have never heard Darby's Castle. There's a message behind those lyrics, Texas.

Emily Dickinson: A trip takes the body, but a book takes the soul.

Your song reminds me of when I was a kid and read every book that I could get my wee hands on involving other places.

Lovely visuals, folks, but the chorus is a bit overbearing for the vocalist.

@edgarblythe,
Actually, edgar. As dj observed I'm just the PD and as Barry the Brit calls it, I am just The Producer.

If it weren't for our contributors, we would NOT have made it. So to all of you out there from ABBA.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4069PUk3aM0

and thank you, Texas for the delightful observation.

@edgarblythe,
You know, edgar, when I was a kid I did NOT like Hank's voice. It wasn't popular to do so. It took some experience and understanding to fully appreciate what an awesome poet that he was. He wrote some of the most beautiful lyrics that I have EVER heard. Liked that one, 'cause it was a mite funny.

Here's Elvis doing my very favorite one by him. Both Hank and Elvis never quite got it right in life. That often happens to creative folks.

I think the reason I loved Hank right away is because my mom played a country music station all day long. I just happened to get to listen to his music before he died and he was my instant favorite. I recall the day he passed away, my mom told me what they said about it on the radio. It was reported only that he was drunk that day. The reporter said he simply fell asleep and did not wake up. I did not know of all his real troubles until after I became an adult. I met the daughter of the examining doctor one time in Rhode Island. She lived upstairs from me. By then she couldn't add to what we already know about it. I did not care what he sang, as I enjoyed all of it. My mom somehow had not really noticed him until just before that day, when a neighbor was praising Hank. Mom's favorites were Hank Snow, Hank Thompson, Eddy Arnold.

Elvis was also a young favorite with me, but I did not have a most favorite until Jerry Lee Lewis came out with Great Balls of Fire.

@edgarblythe,
I heard about it via word of mouth. It used to be that radio was segmented into different programs. There was the country western, jazz, etc. The guy who was in charge of country music, walked in the place where they were having a coal show and told us about it. His words were:

I just saw Hank Williams passed out in the back seat of a taxi. I think he was dead! I was just a kid, and it scared me, but it was then that I started searching and found out what I could about the man. I need to check out the rest of the story, but I believe he was DOA when they hit Oak Hill, West Virginia.

Wasn't there a movie about Hank?

Yep, we tend to like what we hear most often, especially when we're young.

The nice part about our cyber radio station, is we encourage opinions. It is talk radio, too.

Speaking of talking, y'all.

Back in a bit to listen to The Drifters, edgar.

George Hamilton played Hank in "Your Cheatin Heart."
Everybody's Talkin is also a great favorite of mine.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar. I vaguely remember Susan Oliver, and I couldn't find anything else that she was in. I remember George Hamilton, however.

Hey! Liked the Drifters song. Don't quite recall them, but that was one doo wop song that I liked.

Here's more info on Hank's death. The guy who informed us was right about Oak Hill.

Be back in a few. Hope other countries will join us.

I love that song from Carousal, edgar. Thanks for the memory.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a sonata of the moon.

From all of those here at WA2K radio, and especially from Letty.....
