It's a neat song, letty. It was also done by Stevie Wonder.
Well, the Republicans on a2k don't like me. Now, I have probably got the Democrats mad too. Oh, well -

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Sammy, edgar. As Phoenix observed, What you see is what you get.

I don't get into the politics on A2K because I'm like Eva. (no, not our Eva) but this one.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I had forgotten Teresa. Just did some research on the gal and noticed that she did Bell Bottom Trousers a Coat of Navy Blue.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, Hugh.

Now Diana.

Sorry I missed you tsar. Perhaps we can do more poetry later.

Goodnight world,

From Letty with love

Good morning WA2K folks.

edgar, I had to smile at the Mickey Mouse song. Thanks, Texas.

tsar, that song by Leonard Cohen was fantastic. Didn't realize that the man reeked with pathos and razor blades. The Future was an enigma until he decided that "love is the only engine of survival". Wow!

Hey, Brit. Joni Mitchell's Free Man in Paris was great. Never heard that one by her, London. So it's sandwich day in your wee town. I looked at some of the offerings and thought about "the water cress" place that used to be in Virginia. Had forgotten that the sandwich islands are now the Hawaiian Islands. Incidentally, the guys at school called beer sammies.

Ah, I love that one by Bread. "..you come and pour yourself on me.." beautiful lyrics.

Speaking of paintings, The Picture of Dorian Gray was on last evening and I woke up and watched the entire movie again. Did not realize that there had been two remakes. What a fantastic writer was Oscar Wilde. So, Dorian sold his soul for eternal youth. That theme has been done by many including Hawethorne, but not as dynamic as Wilde.

Two songs for the early morning, y'all.

First it's Stevie Wonder's birthday. I started to play You Are the Sunshine of my Life, but decided on this one instead.

Now a classical piece by Chopin which was also in the movie about Dorian.

On this day:

On May 13, 1981, Pope John Paul II was shot and seriously wounded in St. Peter's Square by Turkish assailant Mehmet Ali Agca.

1607 An English colony was settled at Jamestown in present-day Virginia.

1842 Composer Arthur Sullivan, who collaborated with William Gilbert in writing 14 comic operas, was born in London.

1846 The United States declared that a state of war existed against Mexico.

1914 Boxing champion Joe Louis was born in Lafayette, Ala.

1917 Three peasant children near Fatima, Portugal, reported seeing a vision of the Virgin Mary.

1940 Winston Churchill told the British House of Commons in his first speech as prime minister, "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat."

1958 Vice President Richard Nixon's limousine was battered by rocks thrown by anti-U.S. demonstrators in Caracas, Venezuela.

1985 Philadelphia police dropped an explosive onto the headquarters of the radical group MOVE; 11 people died in the resulting fire.

2003 The government unveiled a new version of the $20 bill - the first to be colorized in an effort to thwart counterfeiters.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, Texas, for the history dates.

Had to hobble into our wee studio today, but I cannot fail to recognized Ritchie Valens' birthday.

Here is one of his most famous songs done by Santana.

@edgarblythe,
Loved that version of La Bamba by Harry, Texas.

I had a peanut butter sandwich as well on cinnamon swirl bread.

Today is Darius Rucker's birthday, and although I don't know him, nor his group Hootie and the Blowfish, he is good, y'all.

@CarbonSystem,
Welcome to our cyber radio station, C.S. You can be anything you want to be here. Loved that one by Pink Floyd, buddy.
Especially like the last two lines. They have a special meaning to me.

Since you have already heard Limehouse Blues, how about some China Groove.
