Good morning all.

Ah, we're gonna miss our Texan, y'all. Don't envy you one bit. Jury duty can be a pain, buddy.

Loved the Bee Gees I Started a Joke, but it's rather sad, somehow.

Hey, mooseman. Welcome back. Don't shoot the sheriff, or you may end up on the docket, and edgar will have a conflict of interest. Seriously, I like that song.

Well, Brit, you're always gone when Letty comes in to our wee studio, but you play stuff that is great, buddy.

Juke Box Jury was great and perfect for edgar. Also loved Hit and Miss's Six Five Special.

First the English version of Maria Elena, y'all.

Maria Elena you're the answer to a prayer,
Maria Elena can't you see how much I care,
To me your voice is like the echo of a sigh,
And when you're near my heart,
Can't speak above a sigh,

Maria Elena say that we will never part,
Maria Elena take me to your heart,
A love like mine is great enough for two,
To share this love is really all,
I ask of you.

Now, since it's Lionel Hampton's birthday, a tribute to him.

Incidentally, folks, It's Tai Chi's birthday, and we love that Canuck, so be certain and wish her a goodun.

That didn't take so long. Here is a song detailing what happened today.

Lionel Hampton - I really like that man.

@edgarblythe,
You're back. Great one by Dylan. Strange, I was researching William F. Buckley's book about Allen Ginsberg and found that Ginsberg's Battle of the Skeleton's was journalism via art. Dylan and Ginsberg had a mutual respect for each other.

Warning, this contains the mother of all bad words.(laughing)

Now, a birthday boy, folks.

One of those cognitive insight moments. Even with half a heart I'm happy today.

I have a vinyl recording by Ginsburg of the Hare Krishna song. One need not be a Krishna to enjoy Ginsburg's performance.

Here is Jean Shepherd, a voice from my childhood.

@edgarblythe,
Never heard Jean Shepherd, edgar. Waltz of the Angels was lovely.

Funny, I went to the archives to search about the lady and came across Jean Shepherd who wrote The Christmas Carol. Remember when Ralphie said the mother of all bad words and got his mouth washed out with soap?

More synchronicity, y'all. Inspired by our edgar's "scenes of his childhood", I went searching for "..how dear to my heart are the scenes of my childhood.." and came up with this one by Tommy Sands. Remember when Bobby Darin altered the lyrics to Beyond the Sea to say "....Tommy Sands.."

Here he is, singing The Old Oaken Bucket.

Haven't listened to Tommy Sands in ages. I didn't hear much about him after he and Nancy Sinatra were divorced.

@edgarblythe,
Love I'm Goin' to Jackson by Lee and Nancy, edgar. I recall having been surprised that there was a Frank Sinatra, Jr.

This is an odd one, y'all. Today is Joan Miro's birthday. (who would name a man Joan) and here is the Spanish surrealists art work accompanied by Radiohead.

That may be the first time I really paid attention while playing radiohead music. Not bad.

When I went to the city this morning, I had set out to leave my truck at the Park and Ride facility and go in by bus. But, in the darkness and due to my unfamiliarity with the entrance, I made one turn to soon. This put me in the entry to the HOV lane of the freeway. So I ended up driving there. When I parked, I had to get a ticket from a machine. The cost was six dollars, but no change would be given back. I had a ten and a one. I fed it the ten. There was an apparently homeless woman near the machine, begging. I gave her the remaining dollar.

@edgarblythe,
Loved that "No Values" by Paul, edgar. I guess a penny for your thoughts would now cost around ten dollars. You are just like I am. I give money to people in need regardless of their condition.

Here's ABBA singing about creatures in a different way.

Incidentally, Joan in Catalan is pronounced like Juan, only it includes the J.

Abba - not sure if I care for that one.

@edgarblythe,
Lady Day did that one, too. Love it by Brook, Texas. A great philosophy there. Yes, children must have their own apart from their parents. Appreciate your honest opinion on the ABBA song.

Here are two versions of a song that I love, y'all.

First, an instrumental by a fantastic guitarist.

Now the complete song by Johnny Mathis.

Don't know Jim, but he gots that guitar in tune. I always love to hear Johnny Mathis. (Not all of his recordings - a few are not up to par, but the same might be said of many or even most artists)
A bit of humor, from the Brothers Four

@edgarblythe,
ah, edgar, you made me smile. My mom used to sing that all the time but to a different tune and with different lyrics.

"...what will the wedding supper be, unhuh
What will the wedding supper be,
Two green beans and a black eyed pea, unhuh..."

There are many versions of that old song.

Tried to find Peggy Lee's version of "..While We're Young..". She phrased that so beautifully, but couldn't find it.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with another funny one, folks.

@Letty,
Speaking of old songs.

I'm sitting here listening to a 50s radio show.

This one just came on the air and thought you'd enjoy it.
