@edgarblythe,
As ehBeth once said, "...you learn something new every freaking day..."(or something to that effect)

Always thought Johnny Horton wrote that song. Thanks again, edgar, for the clarification.

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I shall do so with two songs. The first one we'll dedicate to Barry the Brit.

Hey, London, don't you like Matt's version better?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGk3x-Y-Fyc

and now for another shocker, y'all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWq1peks6K8

Did get hbg in here for a brief moment.

Goodnight everyone,

From Letty with love.

I rate Matt Monroe very high among my favorites, letty. The nearness of you - like that one, too.

The first time I heard the Beatles, I was in the club on the military base at Osaka. They sang Kansas City on the juke box. Only thing, I thought they were Little Richard. You will see why if you listen to these youtube songs.

@edgarblythe,
Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K folks.Thanks for the tune Ms Letty but how can I choose between 2 Londoners? Ms Page hails from Barnet,North London and Mr Monro from Shoreditch,a stones throw away from Trafalgar Square.Both have their merits.
Ed,you made me smile.On this side of the pond,whenever a person says that they're "in the club" it means they're pregnant! Looks like you took precautions! Wink

Morning, y'all. edgar, my word they both sound like Little Richard. I have never heard so many different versions of Kansas City. Thanks, Texas.

Hey, Brit. Talk about smiling, I wondered who in the world would name a woman Malcolm. Loved that song, however, and thanks for commenting on "the singing bus driver".

Today is Bessie Smith's birthday, and Lady Day was inspired by her, so let's listen to her do St. Louis Blues.

Today is Henry James' birthday, and his masterpiece was The Turn of the Screw. (frankly, I think the governess was the culprit)

I don't know the music at all, edgar. Just like the photo's.

Guess it time for more animals, y'all.

Still like To To's version better, and I think it has to do with the pronounciation of "New Oreleans"

One of my nephews taught himself guitar by playing to that Animals record over and over, until he could play it the same way.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, your nephew sounds like me. I memorized all music and consequently did NOT learn to read the music well.

Love Three Dog Night's "One", Texas.

How about some Eagles.

Then we have a Monkeys song - by Susan Boyle.

The Eagles song was one of their best.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know that one by the Stones, buddy, but when I think of wild horses I remember those that ran free on Chincoteague. More about that later, however

Here's a horse song by Marty, however.
