Thanks, Texas, for Frankie's Black and Blue. Don't know that one, however.

Rockymoose, Love Bob Marley, and his Keep on Movin' was great.

Ah, yes, and Dinah's Teach Me Tonight was, of course, wonderful.

Thanks, guys, for keeping us on the air.

Now here's another surprise to me. I thought Frankie Laine did the original of Ghost Riders in the Sky. Not so, however, it was this guy. He is GOOD!

Also, today is Christopher Walken's birthday.

He was fabulous in The Deer Hunter, and superb in The Dead Zone.

Here he is dancing.

I love having friends here, the problem is that when they leave, I feel a bit desolate.

Vaughn's version of Ghost Riders has been in my opinion the best since I was a little kid. Johnny Cash comes in a close second.
Christopher does a lively little thing there.
More Bobby Darin.

I was listening to Bobby do this same song on my CD player this morning, while driving. This is a more high powered version.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I had no idea that Bobby did Once in a Lifetime. He did a lot of music for such a short life, Texas.

Well, today is Gabe Kaplan's birthday, and I think many of us remember Welcome Back Kotter. (I only remember John Travolta).

That was then; this is now.

Oh yes. I watched all the episodes of Welcome Back. I recall those characters like it was yesterday.
Here is Lucille Starr with a version of Sukiaki, which is very good.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Lucille Starr was singing Sukiaki with a French accent.That was great! I recall asking satt fs about that song. To this day, it was one that I knew and still don't know why I know it, Texas.

A Memorial to Kyu Sakamoto, y'all.

Sakamoto and especially that song are very dear to me. They are symbolic of a time in my life where I was in great personal transition and also went to Osaka for a month. Another big song of the time was China Nights. Which fit in very well, because I also was in Hong Kong that year. When I returned to the states, I lived as near Chinatown, San Francisco, as I could. I loved their food, for one thing.

@edgarblythe,
My China Doll by the Ames Brothers was perfect, edgar. This has been Oriental Day on WA2K. I had forgotten that you had been in Hong Kong and Oriental gardens.

Can you believe that Barry the Brit is doing homework?

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I shall do so with one by The Mills Brothers. Love those guys and so did my mom.

YouTube has morphed.

Goodnight, world

From Letty with love.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, as you know, I love Across the Alley from the Alamo, and Shina No Yoru was perfect. I think Mr. Fuji replete with cherry blossoms was part of the visuals, Texas.

Hey, Brit. Loved Cactus Flower Rag, buddy. Thanks for the news concerning Carly Simon, and Sam Cooke's You Send Me is great, as usual.

Will let you know about the lynx soon. (pardon the homonym)

Today is one of my favorite classical composers birthday, so let's begin with a tribute to him. Later, we'll do China Groove.

Quote for the day:

"And each one there has one thing shared;
They have sweated beneath the same sun,
Look up in wonder at the same moon,
And wept when it was all done,
For being done too soon."
