Just found out that today is Michel Legrand's birthday, folks. What a surprise to find out that he does jazz.

So, for this afternoon, let's listen to the grand master and a couple of his buddies.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Merle Haggard has a great voice. Hmmm, Mama's always try, but sometimes it doesn't work out, like this George's song, edgar.

His birthday is today.

Izzie, I always love to see you here, gal. Not certain which JPB song you meant.

edgar, That Little Red Rooster by Mick was really odd.

Love You Only Live Twice by Nancy (with the smiling face) Never a better James Bond than Sean Connery.

Ah, Petula. Love her "Down Town", Texas, and thanks.

Izzie, ice skating was something I attempted once. Didn't have the ankles for it.

Today is Edward James Olmos' birthday. Here is a tribute to him, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Where the Glen Campbell video shows Willie Nelson's name, the artist performing is actually Faron Young. Faron is, however, doing a 'Willie' song.

@edgarblythe,
eb, thanks for the Little Red Rooster. It brought back a lot of memories. You know, as a white kid growing up in the suburbs I didn't get to hear any blues until the Stones and the Animals started putting out blues covers.
Rooster was written by the dean of blues song writers, Willie Dixon and first came out on the Chess label by Howlin Wolf in 1961. But in 1963 Sam Cooke did a great version. Listen for Billy Preston's funky organ(yeah, the fifth Beatle)

@panzade,
I have that Sam Cooke recording on a 45. It's my favorite version of Little Red Rooster.

Although our Izz has retired for the evening, I want her to know I adore the theme from the Deer Hunter. I have never seen such a wonderful movie.

Christopher Walken was also outstanding in The Dead Zone.

edgar, I love all of those Glen Cambell songs. Thanks, Texas. Just as many stars, he had a few problems. I also recall his part in True Grit.

Hey, panz. Yep, that one by Sam Cook is much better than Mick's. Glad you and edgar and I agree. Still like Jo Jo by Billy Preston.

Ah, dolly Parton's Jolene is great. Thanks for the reminder that she sang the song I Will Always Love you for Porter Wagoner. Even O'George liked it.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I can't resist this one by Enrico, y'all.

Ah, we agree with Enrico on the need for some sun.

Goodnight world.

From Letty with love
