@edgarblythe,
Funny, edgar. Tom and Jerry? Love it, Texas.

Hey, I just saw that Debacle is back on board. He likes Matt Monro, so here is the first one that I ever heard by him, thanks to Fred in Virginia Beach.

@edgarblythe,
S&G are going to be one of headliner acts at this year's Jazz Fest in New Orleans. Apparently they don't get along very well any longer. Here's one of my favorites of theirs.

@JPB,
Hey, Miss squirrel. I think S&G had a falling out some time back. Thanks for Old Friends.

Here's one of my favorites by the duo, y'all.

First the poem.

Richard Cory

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean-favoured and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good Morning!" and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich, yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine -- we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked and waited for the light,
And went without the meat and cursed the bread,
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet in his head.

Edwin Arlington Robinson

Now the song.

@Letty,
Nina? Wasn't that the name of a well known sailboat from back in the day?

Reminds me of a dipsy ditty from my childhood. (Late childhood, that is ... very late.)

Debacle, Love that one by "the jester". Never heard it before. Welcome back, buddy.

Your allusion to the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria made me smile. It also reminded me of Stan Freberg. Remember him?

Hey, Izzie. Feeling better today as my glucose was normal. Love that "Honesty" by B.J. Often I think some of us are too honest.

Welcome back, dys. Like that one by The Jefferson Airplane. I used to think that was "the airplane" that James Taylor was talking about when he said, "...sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground..." Nope!

Hmmm, The Dolphins wouldn't play. Maybe it has something to do with problems in Miami.

When Stan Freberg did his albumn on The United States of America, one of the lines making fun of Christopher Columbus was.."Captain, the crew is mumbling mutiny."

"..mumble, mumble, mumble; mutiny, mutiny, mutiny.."

Speaking of whom, y'all...

The Dolphins, John Prine, Jefferson Airplane. I liked John Prine's song the best.

It's about 7 minutes long: a musical image of the encounters and conflicts between Russians and Monguls on The Steppes of Central Asia. To my taste at least, very beautiful

Hey, Izzie, what edgar said, hun.

Hmmm, missed dys' John Pryne.

Thanks, edgar for the song, "You Never Even Called Me by my Name.". Reminded once again of James' Taylor's "...you just call out my name.."

Also thought about Jim Croce's, "I've got a name"

Well, just found out that Bill May, jazz artist, was a member of the Stan group. He didn't want to play the kind of jazz that Stan asked him to, but relented so that he would get paid. Love that!

Here's a tribute to Billy May, y'all.
