@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar. Those guys are sooooo good. Thanks for the memory, Texas.

Time for me to say goodnight, and as serendipity would have it, I was looking for one thing and found something better.

Wow! this guy is fantastic, y'all.

Say goodnight for me Omar.

Morning Ms Letty,Izzie,Ed and all WA2K peeps.Celebrating 20 years ago when he walked free from Robben Island prison....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm7p-RLFg2I

and their national anthem....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXKur2FAN7g

Afrika/The Call of South Africa". It is the only neo-modal national anthem in the world, by virtue of being the only one that starts in one key and finishes in another. The lyrics employ the five most populous of South Africa's eleven official languages - Xhosa (first stanza, first two lines), Zulu (first stanza, last two lines), Sesotho (second stanza), Afrikaans (third stanza) and English (final stanza).

Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika
Maluphakanyisw' uphondo Iwayo
Yizwa imithandazo yethu
Nkosi sikelela thina lusapho Iwayo

Morena boloka setjhaba sa heso
O fedise dintwa le matshwenyeho
O se boloke, o se boloke setjhaba sa heso
Setjhaba sa South Africa
South Africa...

Uit die blou van onse hemel
Uit die diepte van ons see
Oor ons ewige gebergtes
Waar die kranse antwoord gee

Sounds the call to come together
And united we shall stand
Let us live and strive for freedom
In South Africa our land

Another South African remembered in song by Peter Gabriel....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLg-8Jxi5aE
Stephen Biko.

"Biko"

September '77
Port Elizabeth weather fine
It was business as usual
In police room 619
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
-The man is dead

When I try to sleep at night
I can only dream in red
The outside world is black and white
With only one colour dead
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
-The man is dead

You can blow out a candle
But you can't blow out a fire
Once the flames begin to catch
The wind will blow it higher
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
-The man is dead

And the eyes of the world are
watching now
watching now

Good morning WA2K folks.

edgar, Loved those two songs you played last evening. Jerry Lee's was different and Ricky Van Shelton's Statue of a Fool, fantactic. Thanks, Texas.

Hey, Brit. Glad to know that you won't be going to India until August. Got the word from a couple of sources.

The tribute to Nelson Mandela was awesome, and the South African National anthem was great as well. Interesting to me that it starts in one key, yet finishes in another. Unforgettable by Nat was the same way.

McTag, Welcome back and your news about avoiding My Way was a shocker. Had no idea that it caused problems in the Philippines, buddy. Thanks for the info.

Thanks again, London, for Peter Gabriel's Hope. Especially like the idea that "he only dreams in red."

Laters, buddy. Guess today is your "freedom" day.

How about a bit of classical this morning, y'all. It's as cold here as it is in Norway. My daughter had some problems returning from her brief stay at Snowshoe. Sheeeze.

Grieg.

@edgarblythe,
Glad all is well in Texas, edgar. Daughter and niece got shoveled out FINALLY. Still cold here, but not too bad.

Loved that group of songs by Tom Jones, buddy. I think most of us remember all of them. Sorta reminds me of Wilson Pickett's Land of a Thousand Dances.

Today is Sheryl Crow's birthday, so let's hear one from her and another King.

This song was written by Leon Payne.

I never really listened to Cheryl Crowe with any interest before, but today, I realized, she has a good voice.

@edgarblythe,
never heard that one by Hank, edgar, but realizing that Leon Payne was blind, made Lost Highway quite sad. Thanks for the info.

Well, y'all, we heard Sting sing with Miss Crow, so here is the real king singing about another highway.

Before he developed his own style, Bobby Bland imitated BB King.

That's a good one by sergio. That's a good version of Volare. I like Domenico Modugno's record of it the best.
Sergio's song was very good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW8oHSmA__I
The Moon And The Sky.

Verse:
I was the one
I who could, pull in all the star above
Lay them on your feet, and I gave you my love

You are the one who got me started
You could have let me love anyone but I only wanted you
So why did he make me cry
Why didn't you come get me one last time

Chorus:
You'll always know
The reason why
We could have had the moon and the sky
You'll always know
The reason why this love, reason why this love
Ain't gon' let you go

Verse:
You let me down
Left me for alliance
A long long time ago

You left me there dying
But you'll never let me go

Chorus:
You'll always know
The reason why
We could have had the moon and the sky
You'll always know
The reason why this love, reason why this love
Ain't gon' let you go

Verse:
You'll always know the reason.. Why
The song you heard, will stay on your mind
It ain't gon' let you go.. No..
Cuz you have removed the (????)in the sky

Chorus:
You'll always know
The reason why
We could have had the moon and the sky
You'll always know
The reason why this love, reason why this love
Ain't gon' let you go...

Ain't gon' let you go...

You have the keys to car...

You have every star...

Everyone of them twinkling...

Thinkin 'bout what you thinkin'...
