All I remember for sure of Vanessa Redgrave is her appearance in Blowup, in the 60s.

@edgarblythe,
You know, edgar, I've changed my mind somewhat about Pat Boone. His voice is good, and that one is a bit do wop, but I liked it.

I didn't see Blow Up I don't think. Just checked it out. Venessa played Anne Boleyn in A Man for All Seasons, but I don't recall her having done so. Guess that's because so many stars did.

Maybe this will remind us.

Now, folks, how about a funny one by Herman's Hermits.

Hmmm. Where did all our animals go?

Maybe we can coax them back with this one. Ah, just saw where the poor mooseman dislocated his hip. Sorry Rocky.

Here's my overdue goodnight song.

Nope, has nothing to do with Tiger Wood. I truly hate the way things have turned out for that fantastic golfer.

Goodnight, all.

From Letty with love

Always like that Henry song. I haven't watched the movies with Anne Boleyn portrayed. And I like the concept of eye on the tiger better than the actual song. Smile
Saying good night with Mario

Finishing up an hour long concert podcast:
http://www.gardnermuseum.org/music/podcast/concert5.asp
Quote:
[The Concert at The Gardner Museum]
Podcast No. 86
Three’s Company
Works for string trio performed by Musicians from the Ravinia Festival Steans Institute, and for piano trio performed by violinist Timothy Fain, cellist Marcy Rosen, and pianist Jeremy Denk.

•Beethoven: String Trio in G Major, Op. 9, No. 1
•Ives: Piano Trio

Today we focus on significant trios, from the old and new worlds. A relatively early trio, Beethoven’s String Trio in G Major, may have been an experiment with some of the ideas he would later bring to the symphonic realm. Beethoven plays with form in the movements, surprising listeners with stop-and-start repeats in the scherzo and vividly contrasting themes in the final movement. Charles Ives’ Piano Trio, completed in 1911, went unperformed for years, finally unearthed in 1948 by a music faculty trio in Ohio. In typical Ives fashion, snippets of a number of folk and popular songs interject, particularly in the scherzo. Listen for, among others, "My Old Kentucky Home," "Sailor's Hornpipe," "and "Long, Long Ago".

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, you know, of course, how I love that one by Mario.

tsar, welcome back. That "Eye of the Tiger" version was hilarious, but you did inspire me to find this version of Long, long ago, buddy.

and, inspired by the Brit, this version of Hank Williams' Move it on Over.

Up early this morning gazing at the "cold wolf moon" hanging outside my window. It's hypnotic.

@JPB,
Hey, Miss squirrel. Welcome back. I'll have to locate the tsar's concert later.

Guess what, y'all. Today is Mario Lanza's birthday. Let's hear a song from him doing The Great Caruso, then Enrico himself doing the same aria.

First, Mario.

Now, Enrico.

@tsarstepan,
I thought so as well, tsar, and thanks for the acknowledgement.

Today is Eddie Cantor's birthday. He and Al Jolson were great friends and although some of his songs were censored by the powers at be on TV, he is still wonderful even today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANRPmTZRqkg&feature=related

a blurb on Cantor's books, folks.

Cantor wrote or co-wrote at least seven other books, including booklets released by the then-fledgling firm of Simon & Schuster, with Cantor’s name on the cover. (Some were "as told to" or written with David Freedman). Customers paid a dollar and received the booklet with a penny embedded in the hardcover. They sold well, and H. L. Mencken (1880-1956) asserted that these books did more to pull America out of the Great Depression than all government measures combined.

Rip Torn has been arrested for breaking into a bank around 9PM. Drunk as a skunk, he was.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for the acknowledgements, and that medeley of songs by Judy and Bobby was great. Knew every one of them, buddy.

I recall Rip Torn. (with a name like that, who could forget) Remember him as the bad guy in The Beast Master, y'all.

http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3784638745/

Poor Dennis Hopper. Wonder why the judge always found in favor of Rip?

Also wonder where the simile "drunk as a skunk" originated.

Here's a clip from Easy Rider. First time I ever saw Jack Nicholson, as I recall.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHGLBy2CdjI

Also read somewhere that Dennis was suffering from cancer.

The bear and his buddies were good on that one. Those leopard pants are his signature.

@edgarblythe,
How tender, edgar. " Sweet Child of Mine" is a wonderful way to remember your son when he was young.

Just found out that Dennis Hopper has prostate cancer and is attempting to divorce his wife, even on his death bed. Too weird, y'all.

Remember this, Texas? The alternative theme to Easy Rider.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMy3AbpkYvw&feature=related

I think the little animal that became so popular after the movie Beastmaster was a meerkat, but I'm not certain.
