The image are rather small -- couldn't find anything larger of the "Carmina Burana" Spectacular:

Although Carl Orff's hedonistic setting of medieval poems Carmina Burana is one of the most frequently performed of classical works, it is usually spectacular strictly in the sonic sense. Yet there's no reason why it shouldn't be staged. Quite the reverse. The work's full title is Carmina Burana: cantiones pro fanae canton bus et choris cantandae, meaning "Secular songs for singers and choruses to be sung alongside instruments and magic images". Well, the magic images are not often seen in the concert hall. In fact, the traditional concert setting could hardly be further from Orff's concept for the work of "Theatrum Mundi", a total convergence of music, dance and visual drama. This staging aims to boggle the eyes as well as delight the ears. Its German impresario Franz Abraham described it to The Times newspaper as "the anti-boring classical spectacle". Dull is certainly not a word that springs to mind when surveying this picture from the show (and "garish" would surely be churlish before one has seen it), which has toured the world with venues including Copacabana Beach; by the time you read this it will have visited London for the first time. A viewing is mandatory, if only because the director, Walter Haupt, was a student of Orff. The composer's widow reportedly was moved to tears. Of joy, presumably.

@Lightwizard,
Wow! Mr. Wizard, we truly appreciate your info about Carmina Burana. That lower picture was a bit grusome, but I hope the composer's widow DID cry joyful tears. Had it been me, it would have been tears of fear.

Most of us know already that today is Annie Lennox's birthday. (would hate to have a birthday on Christmas) So here is one by her, y'all.

Yes, folks, there is the hedonistic side and the opposite, too.

"For pleasures are like poppies spread" as opposed to "Gather ye rosebuds while ye may."

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, the volume in my wee studio doesn't work too well. Couldn't hear Deacon Mel, buddy.

Hey, Brit. Let the Right One In was a bit spooky. A kid and a vampire? Knew most of Phil's jukebox songs, but I can never think of him that I don't think of his having been convicted of murder.

Loved the city lights in London, however, and on your favorite street.

Jack Lord is familiar to me mostly from Hawaii 50.

Today is Steve Allen's birthday, and he was a great musician. Here's a small clip from one of his Tonight Shows.

I read Shogun by James Clavell, so let's listen to the music from that screen adaption.

@alex240101,
Welcome back, alex. Great song by Jack Johnson; however, more research again.
Jack Hody Johnson (born May 18, 1975 is a Hawaii resident, singer-songwriter, musician, filmmaker and surfer known for his work in the soft rock and acoustic genres. He achieved commercial success after the release of his debut album, Brushfire Fairytales, in 2001. He has since released four more albums and a number of EPs. He is also known for organizing an annual event, the Kōkua Festival.

and, buddy, your song by Jack inspired me to play this one.

I like Jack Johnson. And Sukiaki is one of my high favorites. I still have the 45 I bought in the 60s. I like the Turtles for It Ain't Me Babe.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, Cher and Sony. That was the first song that I ever heard by that duo. Thanks, Texas.

I do recall the movie Moonstruck, y'all, and here is the trailer, followed by one of my favorite Italians. (the theme "La Boheme" ran through the movie, but noone seems to know why)

@Letty,
happy "christmas is over" miss letty.

I liked moonstruck a lot, bit don't think I was in the target audience.

(now that I think about it, who would target me as an audience...)

I like Cher better as an actress than I did mostly singing.

(might be the nose, I don't much care for babs either)

anyways, here goes another

Never heard that one by Cher, rock, but as one thing leads to another, here's a Jesse James song.

I thought Caruso was going to sing, I Got You Babe. That Jesse James may be the only Jesse James film I have not seen.
