@Izzie,
Izzie, I don't know the flutist's name (someone here may know) but I once saw a guy who could play down the scale while singing up -- and vice versa! (This would be more than 30 years ago in a concert with Maynard Ferguson, anyway...) Might be a way to keep your young fella occupied!

The movie, 1941, ruined Dumbo for me. The general in the army sitting in a theater, crying over Dumbo.

Talking To My Angel

Don't be afraid
Close your eyes
Lay it all down
Don't you cry
Can't you see I'm going
Where I can see the sun rise
I've been talking to my angel
And he said that it's alright

I've always had to run
I don't know just why
Desire slowly smoking
Under the midwest sky
There's something waiting out there
That says I've got to try
I've been talking to my angel
And he said that it's alright

This town thinks I'm crazy
They just think I'm strange
Sometimes they want to own me
Sometimes they wish I'd change
But I can feel the thunder
Underneath my feet
I sold my soul for freedom
It's lonely but it's sweet

Don't be afraid
Close your eyes
Lay it all down
Don't you cry
Can't you see I'm going
Where I can see the sun rise
I've been talking to my angel
And he said that it's alright

Have Yourself A Funky Little Christmas
by Egon

December 15, 2009 - Though I live in Los Angeles " a fact I relish roughly 11 months out of the year " come Christmastime I want nothing more than to be back in New England. I grew up outside of New Haven, Conn., and nothing gives me more yuletide cheer than a pizza from Frank Pepe's, an interesting Riesling from my uncle's "package store," my mother's apple pie and a spin through the record collection that remained behind when I left the Nutmeg State for more temperate climates.

My family's Christmas traditions include, of course, holiday music. The Clancy Brothers' Christmas is as important as a Spanish Black turkey to dear old Dad. I often dig out my mother's autographed copy of David Axelrod's Rock Interpretations of Handel's Messiah and place it on that same, worn turntable that I first tried to "scratch" on as a kid on Christmas Eve.

It's been a while " about six years, I'd guess " since we added anything to the Christmas rotation. I suppose it's hard to top Lou Rawls' Axelrod-produced Merry Christmas. Ho! Ho! Ho! and James Brown's Soulful Christmas, a high point in his King Records discography. But this year, I have a few choice selections that I think I can sneak into the lineup.

Good morning WA2K radio.

Sorry that I cannot acknowledge everyone, but I do want to say that I love Sinead O Connor, dj, and, of course, Annie Lennox as that is my "telling song"

Dedicated Hark The Herald Angels sing to Littlek on her real birthday and pretended that it came from Thomas.

The sun isn't likely to find me crying, as it just peeped out from behind overcast skies.

Nice to see our Canadian friends here again, and I hope sBoy gets the right flute.

edgar, not quite certain what you mean by your song as it relates to Dumbo the flying elephant, but thanks, Texas.

I didn't sleep too well last evening as I made some really bad decisions; however, here is one from Ian Anderson, that begins with his flute playing Once In David's Royal City. (made me think of my David)

And, for BBB who is once again in the hospital with multiple blood clots, one from The Beach Boys.

Hope that I didn't miss anyone. Thanks for all your contributions to our cyber radio station.

Good morning, Miss Letty.

Sorry you didn't sleep well last night. I haven't had a chance to listen back so I'm not up on what's been happening here in the listening room.

Here's something mellow for your Saturday morning.

In the film, 1941, as fighting and other mayhem takes place, the General is sitting in a theater, watching Dumbo. As the chained up mother elephant comforts her baby, the General smiles and nods. Great sized teardrops are rolling down his cheeks.
