Well, it's good to be back home again, but the second memorial tribute to my Dave was wonderful.
Thanks to all of our contributors; although I cannot acknowledge each one I want to welcome McTag back with us and was surprised about the info on Luck Old Sun, y'all.
"That Lucky Old Sun" is a 1949 popular song with music by Beasley Smith and words by Haven Gillespie. Like "Old Man River", its lyrics contrast the toil and intense hardship of the singer's life with the obliviousness of the natural world.
The biggest hit version of the song was by Frankie Laine. This recording was released by Mercury Records as catalog number 5316. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on August 19, 1949 and lasted 22 weeks on the chart, peaking at #1.
RJB, Perhaps we'll hit 50,000 this month. Then we'll celebrate and dance to the music.
Urs, I did search out the English lyrics, but only got an important part, "...we can be heroes for just one day..." Yes, I love David Bowie. I think the first one I heard by him was Let's Spend the Night Together. I liked it, but just found out that the Rolling Stones did it first.
edgar, I need to check out your songs later as I have spent six hours in a car and that ain't fun. Thanks, Texas.
Our Izzie is such a dear and I always enjoy her contributions.
I would like to recommend this movie to all our listeners and contributors. It was excellent! Saw it on TCM.
