@edgarblythe,
Wow! I didn't know that Bobby played acoustic guitar.

Linda put on a lot of weight in later years, but it certainly didn't hurt her amazing voice.

Today is Patti Page's birthday, y'all. So here is a tribute to her. She's still with us.

I went off searching the author of Am I That Easy to Forget. It was country singer Carl Belew and a partner. I lost the partner name.

@panzade,
Let's ride the wind with THE Youngbloods.

Banana on Fender Rhodes piano...awesome.
Jesse Colin Young on lead vocals...amazing sound for a trio.

edgar, and I've been off searching for this.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0717429/plotsummary

Read that short story when I was a kid and I CANNOT find the complete thing.

Yikes, Riding the Storm and Riding the Wind? Great songs, but I think I'd rather hear Bill Bailey.

I clicked on your link, letty, and it sent me through a registration process. Maybe later.

@edgarblythe,
I forgot to mention that Sondra Locke was in that movie, edgar.

Maybe this one will work

Time for me to say goodnight, and here is lovely, talented Diana Krall to do it for me.

coming up on remembrance day in canada november 11

I wanna be in the cavalry if they send me off to war
I wanna good steed under me like my forefathers before
I wanna good mount when the bugle sounds and I hear the cannons' roar
I wanna be in the cavalry if they send me off to war

well,I wanna horse in the volunteer force that's riding forth at dawn
Please save for me some gallantry that will echo when I'm gone
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

I'd not a good foot soldier make, I'd be sour and slow at march
And I'd be sick on a navy ship, and the sea would leave me parched
But I'll be first in line if they'll let me ride, by god, you'll see my starch
Lope back o'er the heath with the laurel wreath underneath that vict’ry arch

I wanna be in the cavalry if they send me off to war
I wanna good steed under me like my forefathers before
I wanna good mount when the bugle sounds and I hear the cannons' roar
I wanna be in the cavalry if they send me off to war

Let me earn my spurs in the battle's blur where the day is lost or won
I'll wield my lance as the ponies dance and the blackguards fire their guns
A sabre keen, and a saddle carbine and an army Remington
Where the hot lead screams with the cold, cold steel let me be a cav’lryman

I wanna be in the cavalry if they send me off to war
I wanna good steed under me like my forefathers before
I wanna good mount when the bugle sounds and I hear the cannons' roar
I wanna be in the cavalry if i must go of to war

Let 'em play their flutes and stirrup my boots and place them back to front
Cause I won’t be back on the rider-less black and I'm finished in my hunt
I wanna be in the cavalry if they send me off to war
I wanna be in the cavalry, but I won't ride home no more

Good morning, WA2K folks. Still a bit groggy as I didn't sleep well.

JPB, that song by Enya is lovely. Yes, only time. Thanks Miss squirrel.

dj, Love both renditions of "I Want to Be in the Cavalry". Nov. 11 is Veterans Day here, buddy.

Strange, I was thinking of The Mounties early this morning. Here are a couple of songs, y'all.

The Mountie.

dj, I understand that, as it explores patriotism vs reality.

alex, welcome back. Andy doesn't need to explain the horrors of war, but honoring those who died or those that survived is justified, methinks.

For instance, y'all, today is Tom Fogerty's birthday. Do believe that I would rather die on the battlefield than the way this talented man did.

Death

On September 6, 1990 Tom Fogerty died of AIDS (specifically from a tuberculosis infection), having contracted HIV from blood transfusions for back ailments. After his death a compilation, titled The Very Best of Tom Fogerty, was released.

A tribute to him, folks.
