Here is a group called The Casuals. In the late 50s, before things were "boss" they were "tough."

@edgarblythe,
Oops, I was wrong, edgar. My uncle kept his primitive lighting for a long time after the TVA. Just asked my sister.

Well, I don't think government ownership of important things like electricity is a good thing. FPL has skyrocketed as well, but I think it is the giant corp. that has done it because they don't have much competition.

Wow! I think that I just heard the shuttle being flown back to NASA. Noise was something else. Up, up, and away.

Another oops. Well be back later to acknowledge McTag and edgar's songs

McTag, I adore Shearing, and thanks for Lullaby of Birdland. We saw him in New York City at the Embers. What a unique style he has, buddy.

edgar, don't know The Casuals but thanks for the Do Wop. (I think).

Know this group, y'all?

That covers a pretty good range of Billie Holiday's music. Almost missed the Shearing.

Here's Don Williams to sing I Believe in You

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that Don Williams song plus the visuals was fantastic. We believe in you, too, Don.

Well, time for me to say goodnight, and it's been a wonderful day on WA2K. Great range of music and info, and that makes it really nice, folks.

Two songs from your PD/Producer.

First one from Sting.(dedicated to you Brits)

and one of my favorites, but not the Van Morrison one.

Michael Buble.

Hey guys, has anyone been in touch with RaggedyAggie? I asked over on the Lost & Misplaced thread, but thought I'd try here.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

Mac, just sent Aggie an email. I'm certain she is all right, but I will let you know when I hear.

edgar, that song reminded me of The Butcher Boy. Once again I spent some time doing research. I think Dean Martin sang this, y'all.

Mama dear come over here
And see who’s looking in my window
It’s the butcher boy and oh
He’s got a bundle in his hand
Tell me why he winks his eye whenever he goes by my window
(Mother):
Daughter daughter he’s in love and you’re in love
And love is grand
(Butcher Boy, spoken)
Hey, Marie!
I gotta da pork chop!
Hey, Marie!
I gotta da lamb chop!
Hey, Marie! Marie!
‘Ya want ta marry me?
(Daughter, spoken)
The butcher boy, the butcher boy
I wanna marry the butcher boy
(Chorus and Daughter)
Oh! Ma-Ma!
Oh, get that man for me!
Oh! Ma-Ma!
How happy I will be!
Tra-la-la
And cheery-beery be!
Oh, if I’m gonna marry,
It’s the butcher boy for me!

Hey, Mooseman. Sting is great and Eric as well. Thanks, Kansas.

Today is Jelly Roll Morton's birthday, and many think that he is the originator of the true jazz genre.

@Letty,
Loved the Jelly Roll Morton, Letty. Those stage-names trip off the tongue and in a particular way defines the US to this Irishman.

This may not be to everyone's taste, but Tom Waits live is quite an experience. I've spent a large part of this morning re-visiting the songs from his Small Change album, including this one - Step Right Up. (It takes his band a minute or so to tune up!).

@lmur,
Welcome back, Imur. That was one odd song by Tom Waits and he sounds as though he is imitating Louis Armstrong. Actually, I like it when performers break the rules as he did. So many talented people have done that. Thanks, Irish.

Well, folks, I cannot believe that Gogi Grant's birthday has rolled around again. Still fascinated with how great she is at eighty singing The Wayward Wind. Let's listen.

Your story of the Butcher Boy reminded me of this by Louis Prima.

Like that Jellyroll, letty. I have an album by him, with the featured piece being Ain't Gonna Give Nobody None of My Jellyroll

Wayward Wind was always a big favorite with me. Gogi did it best, but Tex Ritter did it pretty well, also.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, edgar. Had no idea that Tex Ritter had done that song. I loved Louis' version of Marie. I think that Keely is from Virginia.

Another Marie, y'all, and she is doing a song that we have heard before by another performer.

@edgarblythe,
That kid, Hunter Hayes, is unbelievable, edgar. He's got rhythm as well. Thanks, Hank Williams, Jr., for accompanying him.

Today is the birthday of a lovely Eurasian woman who was born in Los Angeles and raised in Hawaii.

We'll dedicate this one to wandel, C.I. satt fs. (who is back with us) and the yitwails. Oh, that's right, and soccer George, too.

Yuna Ito, sing it.
