Love Parade was the largest techno gathering in the world.
The tradition started more than 15 years ago with a few hundred ravers and had grown up to 1.5 million people in the late 20th/early 21th century.

I've had the requisite amount of coffee to make me coherent again. Karaoke was weird last night. The 80 degree weather earlier this week where everything went pop gave me a stuffed head (more than usual) runny nose (there it goes) scratchy throat. Now if you think this enhances your singing ability you're wrong. Couple this with Sean having trouble with the system and there's disaster in the air. The first three songs I chose all had to be scrapped. Finally got a working copy of Elvis Presley Can't help falling in Love but it was a much faster tempo. Try singing that with a scratchy throat.
As the evening passed and with the addition of more beers the voice smoothed out so by the time I reached Ghost Riders in the Sky I felt back in "the mood" again. The music flowed more smoothly rather than being a battle for each lyric to turn out the way you want it. As the philosophic (not philanthropic) among us say this too shall pass. And so it did.

Artist/Band: Jennings Waylon
Luckenbach Texas

There only two things in life that make it worth livin'
That's guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquis lights
I got my song and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Chorus:
Let's go to Luckenbach Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us fueding
like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams pain songs, Newberry's train songs
and blue eyes cryin' in the rain out in Luckenbach Texas
ain't nobody feelin' no pain

So baby let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high socitey you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four car garage and we're still building on
Maby it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to Luckenbach Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us fueding
like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams pain songs, Newberry's train songs
and blue eyes cryin' in the rain out in Luckenbach Texas
ain't nobody feelin' no pain

You're the Top
Ethel Merman

At words poetic, I'm so pathetic
That I always have found it best,
Instead of getting 'em off my chest,
To let 'em rest unexpressed.

I hate parading my serenading
As I'll probably miss a bar,
But if this ditty is not so pretty,
At least it'll tell you how great you are.

You're the top!
You're the Colosseum,
You're the top!
You're the Louvre Museum,
You're a melody
From a symphony by Strauss,
You're a Bendel bonnet,
A Shakespeart sonnet,
You're Mickey Mouse.

You're the Nile,
You're the Tower of Pisa,
You're the smile on the Mona Lisa.
I'm a worthless check,
A total wreck, a flop,
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top

Your words poetic
Are not pathetic
On the other hand, boy, you shine
And I can feel after every line
A thrill divine down my spine.

Now gifted humans like Vincent Youmans
Might think that your song is bad,
But for a person who's just rehearsin'
Well I gotta say this my lad:

You're the top!
You're Mahatma Ghandi.
You're the top!
You're Napolean brandy.
You're the purple light
Of a summer night in Spain,
You're the National Gall'ry,
You're Garbo's sal'ry,
You're cellophane.
You're sublime,
You're a turkey dinner.
You're the time of the Derby winner.
I'm a toy balloon that is fated soon to pop.
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

You're the top!
You're a Ritz hot toddy.
You're the top!
You're a Brewster body.
You're the boats that glide
On the sleepy Zuider Zee,
You're a Nathan Panning,
You're Bishop Manning,
You're broccoli.
You're a prize,
You're a night at Coney,
You're the eyes of Irene Bordoni,
I'm a broken doll,
A fol-de-rol, a blop,
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top.

You're the top!
You're an Arrow collar.
You're the top!
You're a Coolidge dollar.
You're the nimble tread
Of the feet of Fred Astaire,
You're an O'Neill drama,
You're Whistler's mama,
You're Camembert.
You're a rose,
You're Inferno's Dante,
You're the nost of the great Durante.
I'm just in the way,
As the French would say
"De trop,"
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top.

You're the top!
You're a Waldorf salad.
You're the top!
You're a Berlin ballad.
You're a baby grand
Of a lady and a gent.
You're an old dutch master,
You're Mrs. Aster,
You're Pepsodent.
You're romance,
You're the steppes of Russia,
You're the pants on a Roxy usher.
I'm a lazy lout
That's just about to stop,
But if Baby,
I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

You're the top!
You're a dance in Bali.
You're the top!
You're a hot tamale.
You're an angel,
you simply too, too, too divine,
You're a Botticelli,
You're Keats, You're Shelley,
You're Ovaltine.
You're a boon,
You're the dam at Boulder,
You're the moon
Over Mae West's shoulder.
I'm a nominee of the G.O.P. or GOP,
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

You're the top!
You're the Tower of Babel.
You're the top!
You're the Whitney Stable.
By the River Rhine,
You're a sturdy stein of beer,
You're a dress from Saks's,
You're next year's taxes,'
You're stratosphere.
You're my thoist,
You're a Drumstick Lipstick,
You're da foist
In da Irish svipstick,
I'm a frightened frog
That can find no log to hop,
But if, Baby,
I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

Oh, my goodness, listeners. We are really burning bright just like Blake's tiger.

Raggedy, thanks so much for the celebs update. I need to look more carefully at each one before commenting, but there's little Miss Curls!

Hey, all. "You're the Top's" is a fabulous song because it includes everyone here. (however, I like that it may have been for someone I know, me)

edgar is soooooooo far ahead of us with his fantastic discography, and I hate to say it, Texas, but I have already read those Louie alternate lyrics. Razz

Bob, I declare, honey. You are the comeback kid for certain. <smile>

Now for Walter's pictures:

I read a bit about the fact that psychologists now have a handle on the "look of love"..............

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=97&ncid=97&e=3&u=/hsn/20050421/hl_hsn/sizingupthatlookoflove

...........but there is no way they can describe the celebration that Walter just revealed (and I mean revealed...heh heh)

Let's sing to that, folks:

Diana Krall
The Look of Love
Written by - Bacharach & David
From - The Look Of Love
The look of love is in your eyes
A look your smile can't disguise
The look of love is saying so much more than just words could ever say
And what my heart has heard, well it takes my breath away

I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you, now that I have found you

You've got the
Look of love, it's on your face
A look that time can't erase
Be mine tonight, let this be just the start of so many nights like this
Let's take a lover's vow and then seal it with a kiss

I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you, now that I have found you
Don't ever go
Don't ever go

Damn. folks. I keep forgetting that Yahoo won't let me do the link bit, but the simple message was that if a woman walks into a room and makes eye contact with a man and holds that contact, he will think that she is sexy. If she looks away, she's a dud. Love it! There's more, of course, but I think everyone gets the message.

Eventually the FBI got involved, conducting a thirty-month investigation that led to Louie's reputation as a dirty song.

I wonder how much that cost the government Laughing

They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!
Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go berserk?
Well. . .

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!!
Hah. . .

Well you just wait
They'll find you yet
And when they do they'll
Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

While others were posting, I "googled" and found the words.

Who's next? It was nice to read those Ethel Merman lyrics agin btw, thanks Edgar

I suggest and pose as your next challenge

"Wherever you're going, I'm going your way"

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me

(Moon river, wider than a mile)
(I'm crossin' you in style some day)
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Hmmmm. I thought so. Brazil 66 did The Look of Love as well.

Now, about Walter and Louie Very Happy

My, my, listeners. How many songs that had questionable lyrics did we giggle and pretend to be shocked with. They get buried and then surface somewhere else. Two that I recall were:

I Can't Get No Satisfaction

Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir (ce soir)

The group that did Voulez-vous also did "I'm your Venus--I'm the fire of your Desire." Can't locate that bunch, however.
