I like that song, letty. I have only heard it a few times, but it's always worth a listen.
I watched a film this afternoon. It was Zero Mostel and Harry Belafonte. The Angel Levine. Harry played an angel on probation. He had to make Zero believe in him. It ended in tragedy.
Anyway, it made go to the vault for a H B song.

@edgarblythe,
I love that song by Harry, edgar. It's done to the tune of Yellow Bird, I think.

I didn't miss your bit about Tom and the wolf, either, nor your having watched the space station. All I have seen lately are two heliocopters flying over the ocean.

Time for me to say goodnight, y'all, and I think that I shall do so with The Beatles.

This is for my son and daughter. They always remain our little ones, I think.

Good morning, WA2K radio.

edgar, love that Billy Joel song. It's so tender and loving. Thanks, Texas.

Hey Brit. Have a great weekend and thanks for the sax bit by the soul bros. Love it.

How about a few oldies this early morning, y'all.

@Letty,
Letty, Al Jolson is still great with me. Same with Paul and Enrico.

Roy Hamilton followed me into the studio. He's begging me to let him sing. Guess I will step out of his way.

@edgarblythe,
Love, that one, edgar. Ebb Tide is a fav of mine. Better step out of Ernie's Ford's way as well, Texas. He just loaded sixteen tons.

Today is Richard Wright's birthday. (Native Son and Black Boy author) Let's listen to a tribute to him. Not certain if the sound will work, y'all; been having trouble.

Sixteen Tons - I owe my soul to the company store -

I tried watching the Richard Wright video, but it stops and starts so that I can't follow it. I will try it again later on.

@edgarblythe,
My Gawd, edgar, I had forgotten Louis. Wasn't Don Knotts on Steve's show for a while?

Well, here's a beautifuf jazz tribute to Johnny Carson, folks.

On Steve Allen, there were Louis Nye, Don Knotts, Tom Poston - There was at least one more, but I can't recall who. Oh, the guy that played Jose Jimenez.

That was a neat tribute to Johnny.
Out of the blue, I thought about Dakota Staton. Here she is.

@edgarblythe,
ah, edgar, that is one of my favorite songs by Johnny Mercer and Hoagy Carmichael. I was surprised at the background concerning it, Texas.

Here's an instrumental of the same song. Great jazz ballad, y'all.

I am glad somebody takes time to salute Peggy Lee. She has been a special performer in my life.
I like Jim's version of Mexicali Rose. Sometimes I try to recall who I heard sing it in my childhood, but nothing rings a bell.

@dyslexia,
Funny thing. I do not like Steppenwolf's big hit records, but I like their lesser known songs. Walkin Blues is great. I only knew it by Butterfield.
